Cattlefish have a slightly different take on the usual food on hand in Katoomba. With a chance to revisit yesterday, I ordered a couple of identical meals to test consistency. The staff were polite and helpful. The food arrived in a resonable amount of time, considering it was prepared to order. It was flavorsome and properly cooked to perfection. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in the Blue Mountains area. And yes, I recommend them. This is a re-review - as I promised to return in future. My original visit had issues which I see have since been corrected. Hence this update with upvoted ratings that reflect the improvements and my most recent experience.

Me and my wife were looking for food after the train ride from Sydney. We were trying to go to a kebap shop but a kid said to go to Cattlefish. We thought these kids might've been planted there to steer people towards it (I know I've been traveling too much) but we ended up there anyway. If that kid is reading I want to thank him! The fish was fresh and delicious, and the chips were amazing. It didn't take too long to get the food all things considered. I'm going to skip over them looking at me crazy when I asked for ketchup because they call it tomato sauce.lol My wife got a burger and said that it was great. If you're in Katoomba I highly recommend you check them out.

We stopped here for a quick lunch before checking out the Blue Mountains. It’s a small shop with about four or five tables. I wasn’t sure what to order so i asked the staff for recommendations but he wasn’t interested in talking much. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich, a burger, fish and chips, cappuccino and fried sliced pineapple. The fried chicken sandwich was big and crunchy. The burger was quite tasty. There’s one big piece of fried fish with chips. The fried pineapple was a good after-meal dessert. I wanted to have a caramel latte but they didn’t have it. They have simple coffee drinks only. Overall, i think they are good for the price.

My partner and self looking for some lunch, found this place. We really wanted to try for ourselves. But unfortunately I had one look in the kitchen and saw the staff not wearing gloves or head ware. Yes, most places these days seem to be becoming slack in the hygiene dept, hence the increased numbers in food poisoning incidents daily. But as someone who is a chef and trains students in food hygiene I wondered why any open food preparation area would allow their staff to be not following basic and regulatory food hygiene preparation. If that is what I can see, what is happening I cannot see. This may have many good reviews, the front of counter person very friendly, but it is also the food I am buying. Unfortunately food poisoning occurs hours or days later, so often many do not attribute what they have eaten to meals which may have been tasty and seemed fine. I stood and watched your staff preparing food and wondering why at the very least, if you feel gloves too expensive or arduous to put on, then use some sort of utensil, tongs, pallet knives etc, to handle and prepare the food. We are a few years out of COVID and these sorts of communicable diseases, colds, flu's and even hepatitis to name a few, are easy to contract, from any food badly handled.

I have run food market stalls and if did not have a clean uniform, gloves, changed after each preparation, as well as utensils when prepping and serving to the public I would have been pulled up quickly and fined. The council used to check our markets regularly. Something as food handlers to consider. Who ever is the main food safety supervisor should have been instructing the staff to wear regulation P.P.E. I was sorry not to...

"Immediately felt good vibes when we walked in."

The family and I came in today for lunch with 2 people ahead of us being served. It didn't take long to order and the kids were quick to choose what they wanted as the menu is up on 4 huge LCD screens, with pictures!

I ordered a beef and bacon burger, which comes with a side of chips. The kids got some fried chicken and chips, and my partner got a brecky burger, which came with a hashbrown or 2, which in all was a great choice and didn't cost much at all.

The photos make the food look perfect, but the taste is even more divine. Portion sizes are great and as someone that can eat 2 meals and then some, this one bacon and beef burger with the side of chips was more than enough.

Further more, the staff are amazing kind and happy workers. The lady who served us brought the food to our table and even got our knives and forks, along with sauces and napkins.

I recommend this place to anyone who loves a well-made tidy burger that doesn't fall apart on the first bite. I also would say that their burgers out do other burger places in the...

The fish is fresh. I want to particularly mention about the service. The young man who took my ordered looks very very young (didn’t see his name card) and his attitude of offering help and service is not green as his youth. This is my first time visiting this place. I ordered a burger and then I wanted to try their fish. He helped me find a good combination of order. And he even concerned if I needed a bag when he already gave me the food. Very sweet. Nowadays, young generation seldom do their job with this kind of attitude in service jobs field, especially it is usually a temporary part job for them.

I didn’t see this would come to me as a tourist. This good attitude makes me want to go to eat again and recommend this place to my friends and on social media.

Another man looks like the boss. He was friendly and actively interacting, too.

If want to grab something easy and chill to fill the meal with a fair price and fresh food. This place is a good choice in Katoomba during Blue mountains trip.

Remember to try their fish...
