Friendly staff and overall pretty good food. There are a lot of Japanese restaurants popping up around the Blacktown area, and it's hard to know which one is the one to go to. Luckily, Japanese cuisine is more than just sushi.
That's not to say the sushi isn't good, on the contrary the sushi is fantastic. The sashimi is fresh, thick, melt-in-your-mouth and well cut. The highlight dish for me is their agedashi tofu. The broth is deliciously gingery and savory-sweet, and the tofu is crispy but fluffy on the inside. Can't get enough of it.
I've also tried the udon there, however sadly it's nothing to write home about. Maybe the dashi stock needs to be stronger, but at least the noodles are usually nicely chewy and slick. Some friends and family I've gone with have a 50/50 split opinion on the katsu. Even though it's got that spot-on balance with a crispy-crunchiness and nicely cooked meat, it might be a little too salty for some people's tastes.
Although maybe a few dishes could use some work, overall the food is good, service is good, prices are quite cheap compared to Sushi Bay. If you live around the area it's a great place to go to eat Japanese food. Maybe some restaurants nearby may do a better job with some dishes, but that's ok since it sparks competition and variety. I'll definitely keep coming back here, especially for that...
Read moreI came by myself to enjoy some sushi train, I requested a table booth since it was very quiet and in between busy periods. I was told by Angeline who was the manager at the time that they don’t seat people at the tables without booking. This was very unusual, I advised that I find it more comfortable and because it was quiet is there a possibility of being seated there. After 4-5mins of back and forth, completely denying my request she finally seated me. I am a regular and come here often with family, friends and alone. I felt very offended that I wasn’t allowed to be seated at the tables. Since this sushi first opened the customer service of the staff had gone down hill. I remember when I walked inside they would greet you, now nobody cares and they are not attentive to the customers. Further to this almost every visit here, I have to argue about the bill being mischarged because they have a failed system of ordering and grabbing plates from the sushi train, which many times overlaps plates charged in a order twice as they charge again for the plate on top of it already being displayed in your order.
Sushi was all cold, Gyoza felt like out of the fridge. Not fresh food at all. Better to come busy times
Very upset, pick up your act. If you change for the better I might reconsider...
Read moreFood was of low quality and quantity not value for money. Sushi was poorly prepared and inconsistent that it either falls apart or the the whole thing sticks to the plate when you try to pick it up. Mind you this was not even on a busy day. The fact that they don’t have a dedicated chef at the sushi bar and any staff can be roped in to prepare the food tells you about their quality control (this is a big NO in any restaurant industry). Asking your fellow colleague in korean if this is the right way to prepare the food in front of the client is not a good sign. If your the shop owner and reading this I hope you reacess your quality standards and how you operate as a business otherwise your going to get one hit customers. Your better off getting sushi from a food court until their management changes. People giving 5 star reviews here urgently needs to seek...
