Breakfast at Coffee Pitt

Bacon rashers, fried eggs, beans, A large flat white, all swirling and hot, And all of it on a square earthenware plate, On a dark wood table, just comfortably dented, All of it ensquared in raw brick walls, In chalky menu boards and a hint of peeling paint, In a plate glass window muting the morning street hubbub, Letting the flaxen light flood in, Intersected by reversed window lettering, Fragrant vapour twisting incandescent, Lighting the fresh faces of office workers, So eager and earnest in grey and serious suits, Of large and laughing construction workers, In fluorescent yellow-green vests, Of a smiling, motherly Korean lady, All black-aproned and organised, Carrying a pepper grinder toward us, Teasing, teenage voices from the tiny kitchen, (Probably extended family) All white and echoing through the doorway, Of all life and all humanity. I hold my fork, cool and heavy, I savour this moment before the first bite. 'But have you forgotten?' a quiet voice asks. 'There are wars and rumours of wars, There is nation rising up against nation, And even this lovely city is built on the blood And anguish of former generations; Of convicts and tribal nations.' No, I have not forgotten. But here, with my wife and daughter, Here, with happy strangers and sunlight. In this place of aroma and good feeling, Full of hearty memory making, Full of morning joking. Is existence at its fullest. Is society as it should be. Is what people have chased for all of history. Is the Kingdom of God among us. How is it that such a flourishing, Has blossomed out of pain and chaos? Is it not miraculous? Yes, I know it will pass. But still, it is as real as...

The eggs on toast with mushrooms as the side my order. This should of been $8.90 in total costs. I love my mushrooms so you bet I asked for those. This should of been an additional $3.00 at most. As advertised globally on their website and Google menu page their eggs on toast again, should of been only $8.90.

My iced caramel latte was $5.50 and 50 cents extra would of been for the flavour syrup.

My bill should of been all up $17.90 plus the surcharge of 1.5% because I used card, the final total SHOULD of been just $18.17.

How I ended up at $19.69 total for what should of been just two eggs on toast, which was overcompensated by the abundance of toasts that wasn't needed for the menu item seriously, two eggs and a large iced latte should not cost $19.69 I have an answer for this. When I was ordering my mushrooms as the side, the cashier lady said I quote, "extra mushrooms?" And there you have it. I was swindled. Don't just assume they mean extra mushrooms as their way of detailing that it will come with mushrooms as an extra 'on the side'. Nope. Honestly I am a little disappointed. The only good thing I got from this cafe besides the well poached eggs was the iced latte wasn't too strong and the drink was relatively subtly sweet all around with little to no requirement of mixing the drink to dissolve the coffee.

You're better off donating to a non-profit charity organisation than trusting these sneaky baristas with your hard earned dollar bills.

Apologies for not having a photo of the eggs on toast. My camera is unreliable and it did not end up properly processing and...

I had an extremely disappointing experience with the service at this coffee shop. The server, a Korean lady who appeared to be in her 30s to late 40s with brown hair and a white hair clip, seemed completely uninterested in helping customers. When I asked for recommendations, she just laughed me off and acted as if it was a hassle to answer. If you work at a place, it’s expected that you’d at least know what’s popular or well-liked by customers.

I then asked about the iced dalgona latte and whether she’d recommend it, and she gave me an apethetic and judgmental attitude before saying, "It's a personal choice, so idk." At that point, I felt like I was wasting unnecessary energy just trying to get a simple answer. Why should I have to work so hard to convince someone to do the bare minimum of their job?

If I were the owner of this café, I would never hire someone so unprofessional and disinterested in providing top-tier service. It reflects terribly on the business and shows a complete lack of care in customer experience. Bad service like this is not only ridiculous but also a terrible marketing strategy—it actively drives customers away, especially via word of mouth and bad reviews. I most definitely won’t be coming back.

Ordered the Iced Matcha Latte. Pretty standard and not bad, but the customer service experience leaves a foul taste in the mouth. Ambiance is spot on with the windows and door opened which gives that NYC vibe, which I love. Just extremely unprofessional service...

The food and coffee are undoubtedly above average, but it all seems to be prepared according to a textbook, and without any apparent understanding of how to cater to community needs. For instance, I am lactose intolerant. It is astonishing that a cafe of this calibre does not offer lactose-free cheese or dairy-free yoghurt as options. I would happily pay an extra dollar or two just for those options in what I order. This cafe already offers the option of paying for many other extras, including several dairy alternatives for coffee. So why not dairy free cheese or yoghurt? In a time when people are thinking twice before spending more than $20 per head, it would do this place well to figure out how to retain the loyalty of those who can continue to pay. The manager, by the way, is not very friendly. You should know that in business, all feedback is an opportunity to improve.
