Being a huge El Jannah fan and having eaten at it more than any other food outlet, I was over the moon when news broke that I won’t have to trudge into Newtown on the regular and battle for a parking spot because this was opening up in Randwick - I have to admit I am disappointed.
I am only writing this review because I want to provide honest feedback so I can get the standard of food I expect from this franchise with some convenience because where it stands - I would still rather head to the Newtown store.
Two visits - one on Sunday evening and another on a Tuesday evening (this was me giving it a second chance because Sunday was wild and I understand things can get messy in a busy service) - ordered a half chicken meal - very overcooked and dry both times and serving of chips a 5 year old could down in a few minutes - why skimping out on chips? Newtown couldn’t throw enough at you and the chicken even when delivered through Uber puts up a better fight.
It’s early days so I hope this gets addressed and we see the quality expected from El Jannah.
Just my two cents - would’ve mentioned this in store but couldn’t find anyone who looked like they were in charge of the show.
Cheers
UPDATE:
A couple of weeks after first review and two more visits. Food still terrible, and management is not great I have come to discover.
May I also add, handing out free profiteroles in exchange for reviews is a pretty filthy tactic too - in case anyone wondered why the overall rating doesn’t quite add up to the quality of food/experience.
The store may thrive and succeed in Randwick - but I won’t be stepping through those doors again - 4 meals was the most I was willing to give...
Read moreDisappointed with Randwick Branch – Needs Serious Improvement As a hospital staff member who lives in the West, I’ve always been a fan of El Jannah. Back west, the food is consistently good, and service is usually spot on. So when the Randwick branch opened, I was genuinely happy to have one closer to work. Unfortunately, my experience here has been disappointing — not just once, but repeatedly.
The quality is just not the same. I’ve received burnt chicken, overly salty chips and pickles, and the customer service has been frustrating. Items are often missing from orders. The first time I ordered, my two extra garlic sauces were missing. I had to go back to collect them, and by the time I got the sauce,my food was cold.
More recently, a colleague and I placed an order, only to find out when we got back that our burger was missing. Despite us confirming at pickup whether everything was inside the bag — and being told yes — we were blamed for “leaving it behind.” When we returned, we were handed the same cold burger they had prepared earlier, with no apology. The staff member was dismissive and blamed us rather than acknowledging the mistake.
This isn’t just my experience. Other hospital staff I know have had similar issues, and a quick glance at the reviews shows we’re not the only ones. I normally don’t write reviews, but I felt this needed to be shared so management is aware and can take action.
El Jannah is known for its quality and consistency, especially in the West. I hope the Randwick branch can bring itself up to that same standard — it has potential, but right now, it's letting...
Read moreI’ve always enjoyed El Jannah, but the Randwick branch has been a constant disappointment. This is now the third time in a row my order has been wrong or poorly prepared. • First time: the bread and the drink was missing. • Second time: no garlic sauce and really hard and dry chicken. • Third time: again missing items, and this time the chicken was completely burnt.
It’s really frustrating and unacceptable to pay for a meal and not receive what you ordered — or worse, to get food that’s poorly cooked. This is not what El Jannah usually tastes like, and it’s making me lose trust in the brand.
One mistake is understandable, but three times in a row shows there’s no quality control at this branch.
I’m not writing this just out of frustration, but because I believe other customers probably face the same issue. The team at Randwick really needs to do better with order accuracy and quality checks before sending food out. It’s disappointing because I actually love El Jannah, but this repeated carelessness is making me lose trust in the brand.
I hope management takes this feedback seriously—your food is great, but the service at this branch needs major...
