Donut King Miranda — Restaurant in Sydney

We won't be visiting this store again and here is why.

My toddler and I visited this Donut King in the late afternoon a few days ago. We stopped by because he had little to eat, so I knew won't refuse a hotdog.

There were only a few donuts left on the display as they were about to close up. Our 2-year-old was so excited by them and was jumping up and down asking for one.

The lady serving us encouraged us to get the $12 meal where we could get a standard hotdog, a milkshake and 2 cinnamon donuts for $12. That's a bit much for our toddler, but I agreed because it's a good deal and we're supporting local small businesses.

Sadly, it's a decision I've now regretted. The lady's mannerism was ok, but her agenda was clear, and that was to make as much money as she could from us with no flexibility.

I asked her if we could swap the two cinnamon donuts with one colourful iced one for my toddler. Nope, she wanted us to pay extra. I then asked her if she could swap them with just a small iced donut. Nope!

What? Ok, so here's the thing. We didn't get the shake that was part of the deal; we opted to get a small kid's apple juice instead (money saved for them). We also didn't get any sauce or extras on the hotdog (again, money saved).

After all this, she still refused to make a toddler happy by simply swapping two standard cinnamon donuts with a small iced donut that was most likely to be thrown out because it was the end of the day, anyway! There were no customers but us.

If management of this Donut King is reading this, you should be ashamed. I will engrave this behaviour from your staff in my head and others too. Step out of the box. Try to keep your customers happy and offer some good customer service and flexibility instead of thinking about dollar signs! Use your brains because our requests were far from being...
