Read moreEmma’s Snack Bar is a restaurant that’s long been on our list to visit and finally went to. It’s a popular Lebanese eatery in Enmore/Stanmore not far from Newtown’s main strip. An inconspicuous corner frontage, but the Emma’s snack bar sign is on the middle of the door.
When you enter, it reminds us of an old school milk bar, and the fit out is rustic with a large communal tables, bar seats and smaller tables.
Service is friendly and helpful, starting us off with a few drinks while we peruse the menu.
The menu is traditional and more modern Lebanese fare with the likes of kibbeh, fattoush, felafel, dips and more. It’s a good place for sharing and you can also opt for a banquet if you’d prefer not to have decide. We shared a range of dishes with the fam including: fried cauliflower (lightly fried and served with a tangy tahini sauce and parsley) fattoush (traditional tangy peasant salad topped with fried bread) and ladies fingers - three filo pastry rolls filled with lamb, pine nuts and pomegranate molasses. Another great option was the crispy hand cut potato cubes fried and smothered with garlic paste and fresh coriander. For the protein we had the moorish chicken; sitting in a Lebanese bread and marinated in tangy spices and topped with shaved red onion. Our favourite was the eggplant - Oven roasted, crispy shell and soft interior with garlic, tomato & lebanese spices. The food was delicious and certainly...
Read moreI wouldn't recommend for takeaway- there's nowhere to really sit and you're at odds for 20 mins or so feeling like you're in the way of other diners and staff. I usually eat at Cairo takeaway and after viewing the portions on this chicken box ( more like garlic potato box?), I think I won't be coming back
Edit
The owner has responded below and I'm completely baffled at the response. To call this a fake review to promote another restaurant is clearly a way to discredit an actual diner. If your takeaway is best for people to call- make note of that! There are PLENTY of restaurants in Enmore that have space for walk in customers to sit for takeaway. I have never had this reasoning put through; essentially if you're not dining in, you shouldn't think of a spur of the moment takeaway?
Moreover, there's nothing that prevents reviewers from comparing restaurants. Your chicken box costs $18. I added falafel for $12. For $26 I could have had a much better mixed meat box from Cairo takeaway + 2 falafel. While your style of food is different ( I do get the nuances of Egyptian vs Lebanese) the make up of these two boxes is exceptionally similar.
To summarise, my review, I ate your food and found it lacking. I left this review to caution people of walk in takeaway and suprise, my name IS Liv!
If you can't take fair and honest criticism, you may want to stop lashing out at diners who review...
