Fika, Manly: A Taste of Sweden in Sydney ★★★★★
Fika is a Swedish bakery and café located in Manly, Sydney. The café is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, and it's easy to see why. The food is delicious, the staff friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
I've been to Fika a few times now, and I've always been impressed with the quality of the food. Their pastries are made fresh daily, and they're always light and fluffy. I'm a big fan of their vanilla buns, which are soft and chewy with a hint of vanilla of course They also have a great selection of savory pastries, such as their Swedish meatballs and their gravlax sandwiches.
In addition to their pastries, Fika also has a full coffee menu. I recommend trying their lattes, which are made with Swedish-style dark roast coffee. They're also a great place to get a beer or a glass of wine.
The staff at Fika are always friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer questions about the menu and make recommendations. The atmosphere at Fika is also warm and inviting. The café is decorated with Swedish-inspired décor, and there's always a nice buzz about the place.
If you're looking for a great place to get a coffee and a pastry in Manly, I highly recommend Fika. You won't be disappointed!

The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. It's a great place to people-watch. It's a family-friendly café.
Overall, I think Fika is a great place to eat and relax in Manly. I highly recommend checking it out!
Tips:
Fika can get crowded, especially on weekends. If you're planning on going, I recommend getting there early or making a reservation. Fika is located in a laneway off The Corso. It can be a bit tricky to find, so be sure to have your map app handy.
Fika is open from 7am to 2pm daily.
I hope this...
Read moreWent to Fika on a Saturday morning and there was no seating available, so decided on take away for coffee and some pastries, a long wait which was as expected. When order was ready, my coffee was poured as a single shot and I pointed out that a double espresso should be around half a shot cup, they remade for me. The second coffee was a large almond cappuccino which arrived as a "medium" takeaway cup, my partner asked if the cup was large? As it appears they served the wrong coffee size. Apparently a medium size coffee is a large at Fika, but they charge for LARGE prices 👎 The server treated my partner rudely and said that this is how coffee is in Australia (thinking she was a tourist or boat refugee from the eastern suburbs of Sydney) in fact she lives in Manly and is a local all just because of her appearance and accent.
*24/07/23 owner replied, but didn't apologise or understand the point of the review. The coffee size is below market expectations and their staff are rude. Diana this is Australia as your staff rudely pointed out (maybe it was you?) We use the metric.system...
Read moreThe place has got a nice vibe to it and the staff always seem to smile, which I appreciated. Still the place is nothing fancy appearance-wise, and in need of some improvement in decor and furnishing. The food is decent - I liked the Swedish spin, though I have my doubts if these dishes are actually Swedish! The "Aggs" on toast was good, as was the coffee. I give only four stars because of my disappointment with the Scando Avo - it is too small for the price ($18) and the bread seemed sweet and not crispy, which didn't mesh well at all with the avocado (why not use their wonderful sourdough toast for this dish? much better option in my opinion, and two slices not one). The sliced strawberry too seemed out place, especially when you put it together with three super-spicy chili peppers which nobody eats - I noticed everyone who had this dish put them aside because of their spiciness - what a waste... Still I saw other people ordering better dishes which I am sure I would have liked more. Next time in Manly we may come again to give this place another try. That Nordic salad...
