I wish I had better things to say about this place, as the themed decoration and drinks menu was very cool. However, we did not have a great experience going here to eat. Their menu is limited, although options were tasty, half the menu is a burger menu - the catch is that none of the burgers come with fries or any sides. $20 for a burger on a plate... Fries are $6 extra making a full plate $26. At that point I'd rather get a proper wagyu burger or something, not an undersized chicken thigh on a bun with one slice of bacon and some lettuce tossed on. I guess my point is not great value for money spent.
Additionally, the service was chaotic and disorganized. We had to refuse food and drinks our table didn't order periodically throughout the evening, had to wave our own food and drinks over as they were being offered to other tables, and had to go up to the bar to place orders as our table server didn't come by very often.
Also, the music was turned up so loud our waiter could barely hear us and a few order mods came out incorrectly. Not a big deal, just kind of disappointing due to the price points outlined above.
All the staff were really nice, it's a friendly place to go. I would just rethink my decision if I'm looking to dine in the area again. For drinks only, I'm sure...
Read moreWas excited to try after being recommended by a friend who is a fellow vegetarian. So very rare to get so many vegetarian options of burgers anywhere else. We arrived before 5pm and were stood reading the menu board for a while before being approached by a staff member and being told we could scan the code to order food and drinks. We took a seat outside beside the gas heater (thank you for being dog friendly!) and tried to order but the menu disappeared. We enquired inside only to be told they stop serving at 5 until 6pm. Fair enough but why did the staff member not advise of this in the first place? We left and came back at 6. Again took our place by the gas heater outside and ordered no problem. Before we got our food the gas went out. We asked the staff member serving if they could turn it back on. We were told that it was probably because the gas had gone and would need to be changed and offered zero assistance or solutions. The two stars are for the menu and being dog friendly. The staff are clueless and the customer service like the weather was freezing cold. We...
Read moreThe decor of The Hold is awesome. We sat in the booth by the entrance and it was cosy and you really felt the Pirate ship type vibe of the place. The bar looks really impressive too. The food was mediocre, burgers weren't hot enough and really weren't that exciting considering the burger options out there these days. The fries were very underwhelming for $12, a handful (at best) of regular, thin fries. The Chipotle aioli was nice. No cutlery or napkins were brought to our table, so I just helped myself to the napkins on the far side of the bar. The waitress (in training) also took my partners "empty" beer far too quickly, even though he still had a sip left. All in all, it was okay, decent for a drink with mates, but not so good I'd rush back. What would make it 1000% better would be to up the vibe of the place - the music was so boring and flat - play something upbeat and give the whole place more of a...
