Most dishes have more pieces &/or were larger sized & significantly more flavourful, than those at the popular Vinh Phat (which on this Sunday 29 Dec had a massive queue stretching all around the street corner of their building), which is the only other yumcha we been to in Cabra. After eating here I would prefer to revisit this place for sure. Although no toilet in sight.
Every dish had a more complex & tasty flavour than those in Vinh Phat. The only one that was bland was the siu mai / dim sim one.
There were 2 or 3 empty tables available so we didn't have to wait at all at about 1pm, though this was after Christmas period maybe a lot of ppl were holidaying overseas. The service was immediate, plenty of trolley attention & clear communication & like Vinh Phat they cut yum cha pieces in half for us without us needing to ask.
Prices not bad $6.50 for small dish, $7.50 for medium, $9 for large.
There were 6 of us (3 adults, 2 teens, 1 tween) & the charge for tea & 2 chilli saucers was $5. Not bad vs at Vinh Phat where the cover charge at $2.50 per person would have cost us $15.
The silken tofu dessert in syrup had the tofu filled all the way to the brim of the small bowl, & a nice authentic...
Read moreGreat place to have yum-cha for weekend lunch. They have quite extensive menu items to order. The best we tried were the prawn & coriander steamed dumplings, fried prawn dumplings and ca-liung rice noodle roll.
The place is a small suburban casual diners but it has reasonable ambience. The customer service is also reasonable, but maybe a bit patchy in busy times.
The best thing at this place is their meal prices which is very good value for your money, even compared to similar places in the suburb. Compared to big yum-cha places in the Sydney CBD or big malls in North Shore / Eastern suburbs, you may spend 30-50% less for similar yum-cha dishes. Dishes' quality may be a bit compromised, but on average, their food offerings are really good value for money.
You can pay with credit cards with no surcharge, a huge thumbs-up for...
Read moreFortune8 Chinese Restaurant is a fantastic spot for authentic Cantonese cuisine in Parramatta. The food is fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared, with a great selection of traditional dishes. Their roast duck, seafood stir-fries, and dim sum are particularly standout dishes. Portions are generous, and the flavors are well-balanced without being overly greasy.
The restaurant has a classic Chinese banquet-style atmosphere, making it great for family gatherings or group dinners. Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get busy during peak hours, so booking ahead is recommended.
The only minor downside is that parking in the area can be a challenge, but the food makes it worth the effort. If you're craving quality Chinese food with authentic flavors, Fortune8 is definitely...
