Freshie Mex - Collaroy — Restaurant in Sydney

As an American, I came in with extremely low expectations of Mexican food in Australia, having been disappointed so many times. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The vegetarian quesadillas were superb, as were the vegetarian enchiladas my daughter ordered. The homemade corn chips were delicious and the guacamole flavourful, but with too many raw onions for my taste. (My daughter, who doesn't mind raw onions, loved it, so it's clearly a matter of taste!) While not an authentically Mexican item, the jalapeno poppers were fun and tasty.

The margaritas were delicious, and my only criticism is the size. My "traditional" was served in a tiny water glass, and I'm certain it was not even a standard drink. My daughter's watermelon margarita was considerably larger and more in keeping with what I consider the standard margarita size (at least compared with other restaurants with similar prices). This is the sole reason for my four-star rating.

The cushions on the benches along the wall make the bench seats far too high for the tables. And since one long cushion runs along two tables, it's impossible to remove them, unless your neighbouring diners agree. I instead pulled a chair up to the side of the table, which was much more comfortable. When another couple sat down beside us, the lady on the bench side (who was tall like me) had exactly the same problem, so we used the bench cushion as a back cushion and were very comfortable. But maybe the restaurant can look into this, as it's an ergonomic issue, and I was experiencing considerable back pain. I noticed several patrons sitting on the wall side hunched over their tables and towering over their dining partners.

But all in all, it was a great experience. The staff were lovely, warm, and attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. We'll definitely be back, as I'm keen to try the margarita garden, and would like to experience what's sure to be a great beach view in daylight hours. I'll request a larger margarita glass next...

Solid Mexican place, kinda just a fancy guzman. Food was great, the burrito easy.great 🌯🔥 I wouldn't change much about it, the guacamole was a little bland 🥑😶 still great with the corn chips 🌽🧂, and pink lemonade was nice and refreshing 🍋💦 definitely recommend ✅💯. Beef taco was great as well 🌮❤️, was hoping for maybe more than 1 taco for $8 💸🤨 whilst they weren't shy with the filling, the actual taco tortilla was kinda small 😬 so like a subway sandwich it kinda just fell apart after a bite 🫠🥴, the taco with prawn was a little let down 🦐👎, would be nicer without the hot sauce 🌶️🚫 and if the prawn wasn't fried 🤷‍♂️.

Atmosphere was nice ✨, nice beach view and great location overall 🌊🌅. The tables we were sitting on were a little crammed 🪑😵 and not the easiest to get on but no biggie 🤷‍♀️.

Service was decent 🧑‍🍳👍, they were on point with the water 💧✅ food came out at a good time ⏱️🍽️ tho it wasn't really busy 💤 and staff were friendly 🙂. However I get it's not busy but they were kinda dilly dallying around the bar 🍹🕺 and idk I would do the same if I were with my friends and it wasn't very busy 😅🤷‍♂️ but yk as a customer it's one thing I'll critique 👀📝.

One last thing the menu could be more concise and easier to follow 📋😵‍💫.

Overall, tacos got small tortillas 🌮😩 could be more filling for the price yk 💰➡️🍴 Menu could be better formatted 📑❌ That's kinda it... Don't forget to follow ⚠️ And if you don't smash that like button in the next 10 seconds ⏱️ you'll have bad luck for an...

Our family of five had an incredible dining experience at Freshie Mex Collaroy. The food was absolutely delicious and affordable - a rare find!

The enchiladas were rich and flavorful, the corn tortillas tacos were amazing and packed with fresh ingredients, and the fajitas were sizzling hot and cooked to perfection. But what really stole the show was the margaritas - hands down the best we've had!

The atmosphere was just as impressive. We loved the outdoor garden seating area, which was beautifully lit and had a fantastic vibe. The kids enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, and we appreciated the attentive service.

Overall, we can't recommend Freshie Mex Collaroy enough. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine with a fun and family-friendly atmosphere, look no further. We can't wait...
