Mr Gelato by Matteo Collaroy — Restaurant in Sydney

This place has amazing products, all, daily made by the owner and it is very hard not to try any of the amazing range of products. The ice cream are a piece of heaven (I even took containers home!) and my long black was the best I ever tasted. We could not resist and tasted some of those miniature little Italian cakes, they were excellent. My girls literally go weekly to get their acai bowl, a treat that allows me to maintain school standards! The negative is it is hard to park, so check the Collaroy beach parking across the street. Also, the shop is quite small so I would advise to order "take away" and a stroll down Collaroy beach. The service was impeccable. We love to get advise on choosing cakes as the range is quite overwhelming! Staff is super sweet...

Tonight I came to buy a tub of 1L gelato. The young girl told me that they had no 1L containers left. I asked if she could please then place the gelato in two 500mL and charge me the 1L price. She said she could not. She said I’d have to buy 2 x 500mL containers so $19 each. As opposed to $29 for 1L. I asked to speak to someone else who told me that she could not split three flavours in 2 containers. I only wanted two flavours - I said can you just pack one flavour in one 500mL container and the other flavour in the other 500mL container. She said the two 500mL doesn’t equate to 1L so couldn’t do that. I’m disappointed as I regularly come here and because they had run out of containers it...

The food and drinks are good, but it's now twice that i realised when paying that they charge me more that the price displayed. First time the price on the board for a tea was like 1 dollar cheaper and when I was surprised they told me that the price had changed but that they haven't updated the board (🤔 where I come from this is called rip off) . Second time I realised that when I pay by card they surcharge me without warning before, which is silly because I had some cash on me. Watch what you pay. By law they are not allowed to charge you more thay on the board without warning, and they need to display a sign if their card machine...
