The Beach Club Collaroy — Restaurant in Sydney

Paella - A bridge too far for Collaroy Beach Club . I took a risk and ordered the Paella in your Bistro . My 5 friends at the table laughed at me being so foolhardy, however I had confidence the meal would be at the very least a local clubs attempt at Paella . Meaning I would be happy with a meal even if it was below par for a Paella . What was delivered to the table should have been binned .Even the poorest shabby backwater club would be ashamed to serve a meal that obviously had spent WAY too long in the oven/warmer. The Rice was as hard baked as I have ever seen on a plate/pan .(not a crust just ruined ) The Mussels were baked to the size of a fingernail .(again food just ruined) The Prawns dry and hard . The Rice in the centre of the plate/pan was just a mass of lumpy glue like substance . Not a trace of any fluid in a $25.00 meal .

I ate what was edible , about 20% of the meal , not wanting to hold up my guests by being awkward . My complaint to your staff was completely ignored by table staff . When asked if my complaint had been passed on , I was told "oh i've been preoccupied" Your supervisor virtually said she would do nothing, and made me feel like the crook meal was my fault . I truly thought your club, above all others in the area would have higher standards . I will obviously relate this experience to clients ,friends and other clubs, whenever the subject of local food comes up in the future . You have at least given me a hilarious story to tell .

If I ever return to your club for a meal I will make very sure I don't order "ANYTHING RISKY" Do yourselves a favour and delete it from the menu , leave Paella to others who know this famous dish.

Saturday night after coming out of Come from Away Mum and I raced to Collaroy for a dinner at The Beach Club Collaroy with Brooke, Matt, and Brooke's mum Raylee, who hadn't seen my mum since I was in my 20s. We had a wonderful night, too many blood orange margaritas, sangria and wine, and such great food. All for such affordable prices and all with a multi-million-dollar view!⁣ ⁣ It is literally over the sand on Collaroy beach and funnily enough, I blame the margaritas, I didn't get a pic of the view except for the background in one.⁣ ⁣ 𝗪𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟.......⁣ 🦑 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝⁣ Fried salt & pepper squid with a soy & chilli dipping sauce⁣ ⁣ 𝐌𝐚𝐭𝐭 𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐬 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲!⁣ 🥩 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐜𝐡⁣ Scotch fillet with lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, fried egg & aioli on Turkish bread⁣ ⁣ 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝...⁣ 🍤 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐰𝐧 & 𝐂𝐫𝐚𝐛 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞⁣ Sautéed prawns with crab, cherry tomatoes, chilli, garlic and spinach in a white wine sauce⁣ ⁣ 🐷 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐞, 𝐌𝐮𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞...⁣ 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐮⁣ Crumbed pork loin steak filled with ham & Swiss cheese served with sweet potato mash, broccolini & honey mustard sauce⁣ ⁣ Matt loved his sandwich, Brooke has ordered the pasta twice before and the three Cordon Bleus loved our dish but agreed it could do with a lot more cheese in it.⁣ Drink service was a bit slow as I think they were under the pump. But it wasn't an issue. ⁣ It was fantastic catching up with everyone and I will return to The Beach Club because...

We visited for dinner as a group of five adults and one child. Overall, the experience was average.

Food: • We ordered two steak meals (medium-rare and medium), but both were overcooked and served well done. On a positive note, the vegetables that came with the steaks were fantastic – generous portions and not oily. • The children’s cheeseburger meal wasn’t available as they had run out of patties, which delayed the order while we chose something else. • One of the salmon dishes was missed entirely and didn’t arrive with the rest of the meals. We had to follow up with staff, which left one person waiting without food. Not ideal. • The salads with the steak and salmon were dry on top but soggy at the bottom from sitting in balsamic dressing too long. • On the bright side, the tuna salad and veal dishes were delicious and well-enjoyed.

Service & Atmosphere: • The venue was clearly busy, likely due to the holiday season. The atmosphere was vibrant but quite noisy, with an old rock band playing. • The staff seemed stretched, but they were polite and helpful when approached.

Overall Experience: While the dining experience wasn’t perfect, it was still better than cooking at home – plus no dishes to clean! The view over the beach is stunning, and the value for money aligns with what you’d expect from club-style dining.
