GAT RESTAURANT, KELLIVLLE is the WORST RESTAURANT! This place has the worst customer service Iāve ever encountered at a Thai restaurant. Iāve ordered here many times because of the close proximity to my house. Today, 11 Feb 2023, I called them to order green curry with duck.. they refused to make it for me at first because they āonly serve red curry with duckā although Iāve ordered green curry with duck several times there. Eventually, they agreed to do it for me with an additional $4 charge which I was fine with. I told them I wanted it a little spicy. Upon arriving home with the food, although it smelled like it, it didnāt look like green curry because it was red/orange in colour and upon tasting it, I burned my tongue and mouth from all the spice.
For someone who loves spice and can take spice very well, I couldnāt believe how insanely spicy this food was. I immediately called them to advise and after speaking to 3 different ladies because of language barrier, they told me that they had used chilli powder instead of fresh chillies, hence the spicyness. I guess that also explains the red/orange colour. I asked if I could return it and they blatantly refused and told me they couldnāt do anything about it. I told them how often I order from them but they still refused and said nothing could be done about it before the lady rudely hanged up on me. Iām still in shocked from this whole ordeal. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS PLACE AGAIN REGARDLESS OF THE CLOSE PROXIMITY TO MY HOUSE!...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to Gati Thai a couple of times in the last 2 years- didn't bother much about staff not smiling etc- it is a hectic job serving tons of strangers every single day and their food was always average. But after a very recent dine-in experience, I had to post this review as the staff attitude left me seething! Not only do they have terrible customer service and bland food- its very shrewd of them to inform customers (only after they have ordered) that payment must be in cash if its less than $25 (note: lunch specials are all under $20) they intentionally do this so customers order and pay more via card including surcharge if they don't have the cash and there are no ācash onlyā signs anywhere! Fortunately I had a $20 note but that meant I couldn't order a drink and couldn't get chilli sauce since I didn't have 50 cents for it (who charges for condiments?) and the staff are so rude- their way and tone of talking felt like they are doing me a favour! Kellyville Village is a very friendly and happy place- with all the shopkeepers and staff always smiling and getting along harmoniously with everyone. Its just this place- Gati Thai, where no one smiles at the customers, talks back and zero communication skills (goes along with the dark and cold interior of the place).Oh and the pad thai had zero salt and hardly any beans sprouts or the garnishes that is meant to be in pad thais! Not giving this place anymore chances! Kellyville Grove has a delicious Thai place and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhen dining out in the suburbs I don't expect to be served authentic Thai, but rather bland Australian versions prepared to appeal to local palates, I get it. However you can usually make things taste Thai by adding must-have Thai condiments which consist of sugar, fish sauce, chili flakes and vinegar with sliced chilies. These condiments are to Thai Cuisine what salt and pepper is to Western food & are a must have at any Thai restaurant. I asked for fish sauce with chillis to add flavour to my Pad See Ew & Papaya Salad, which was overly sweet, but was told they didn't have any. A Thai restaurant without fish sauce!?!? It's like being sold a meat pie without sauce. It's just NOT done. I had to settle for jar chilli in soya sauce, which isn't Thai, wasn't hot & was charged $1.50 for it. Considering all the staff are Thai it's disappointing. I get cooking for your audience but have genuine food available for those who want to eat proper Thai with spice. I like chilli, I like fish sauce. I want my Thai food packed with both. Zero heat & Zero fish sauce...
