I ordered a cone with Choc Chip and Lychee Coconutโand honestly, that combo hit all the right notes. The choc chip was rich and full of chunky goodness, while the lychee coconut stole the show with its fresh, light, and floral creaminess. Perfect contrast, especially on a cloudy day.
Honestly, the space itself feels really curated. Everythingโs neat, the menu is packed with fun flavors (youโll wanna stare for a while), and the staff were friendly even though I stood there for a good minute deciding.
And the best part? That rare moment of peace when a popular place like this is actually quiet. No crowd, just me, my cone, and the sound of soft rain. It turned into such a sweet little escape.

ย ย ย Read moreProducts are only as good as the customer service is. This is my first time lining up for Messina and walking out having bought nothing.
Came here 10pm Friday night with my partner. I get overstimulated when itโs busy, so I wanted to get our ice cream and get out of there ASAP. So while my partner was being served, another server (SE Asian, black hair, brown skin) came by and asked if I had been served yet, I said no and was about to ask for a flavour sample but then he cut me off and asked the worker serving my partner if she had served me yet. Trying to discredit a customer in front of their face is indeed a choice.
I told him that she was serving my partner and seeing that I was next in line I didnโt see why he couldnโt serve me, I was happy to pay separately which he raised as an issue. He then proceeded to give me one of the stingiest samples to date and then walked off to serve another customer. So I walked out. Will not be returning to Messina for a long time. Shouldโve just went to yochi which I was tossing up between. At least if I got attitude at yochi the probiotics wouldโve made it go down a...

Messina has hands down the best gelato in Sydney โ but tonight the service was straight up unacceptable. I was served by this lady (Asian, hair tied back, glasses) and honestly, she looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but at work.
No greeting, no smile, no โthank youโ โ literally nothing. Just a deadpan face, passive energy, and zero effort. I tried to be nice and smile at her, but all I got was a cold blank stare back. Likeโฆ sorry, but if serving gelato is too much for you, why are you even here?
It was so unpleasant that it actually killed the vibe of getting gelato โ which is supposed to be fun, lighthearted, and welcoming. Instead, I walked out feeling like Iโd done something wrong just by ordering. Messina, you pride yourselves on being the best in town, but having staff like this is a total insult to your brand.
This lady needs to be seriously spoken to or retrained, because this kind of customer service is the fastest way to lose loyal customers. The gelato was amazing, but the service gave me PTSD-level bad...
