Located at 11 Harbour Street, Darling Harbour, New South Wales, Australia š¦šŗ Tumbalong Park is the centre of the Darling Harbour Precinct. It has a fantastic childrenās playground area that includes slides, swings, sandpits, a flying fox, climbing ropes and more. Thereās also a wonderful water play area with fountains and pumps that the children love and is also a great way to cool off on a hot day āļø. Tumbalong has the only major grassy open space in Darling Harbour and this features a raised, covered stage which holds regular events and concerts, especially on the weekends. The park is also surrounded by a number af wonderful locations eg the ICC (International Convention Centre) which also has some great cafes and restaurants that you can enjoy. You also have the new IMAX Theatre under the newly built W Hotel. On the other side is the Chinese Garden of Friendship is a MUST SEE! Close by you have Cockle Bay Wharf which has even more cafes, bars and restaurants and this leads to Barangaroo with even more. You are literally surrounded by fantastic restaurants and cafes. You definitely wonāt go hungry. On the same side of the park as the Friendship Garden, you have more restaurants and cafes in Darling Quarter. The only thing I would suggest is that thereās no toilets I could find. I had to go to the ICC in order to find a toilet. This is not to say there isnāt any, just that I couldnāt find any. During the annual VIVID festival, this area puts on a fantastic display and is always worth a visit. You can get here by ferry, light rail of take a walk from the CBD. Definitely one of my favourite places to visit in the Sydney CBD. I would definitely recommend....

The park itself is spacious and well-kept, with easy access to the waterfront and plenty of shaded areas to sit, stroll, or simply enjoy the city atmosphere. Itās especially lovely for families, picnics, and community events, yet it never feels far from the energy of the harbour.
What makes Tumbalong Park stand out is how seamlessly it connects to everything around it. Within just a short walk, youāll find countless restaurants, cafĆ©s, and bars, along with entertainment options like the IMAX theatre, shopping malls, and family-friendly attractions. However, you need to have eyes in the back of your head if you're planning to take small children here. It's so easy to lose sight of them, e.g. my son went into some kind of tunnel (underneath the giant slide) the other day, then seemingly vanished into thin air. I had a minor heart attack, but eventually spotted him. I also witnessed at least two other stressed out parents yelling at their kids after they thought they'd gone MIA. There's just too many tallish structures blocking your direct line of sight, way too many people trying to use the same space and a general feeling of chaos. If you're planning a visit, my advice would be to dress your kids in bright clothing, bring more than one adult, and maybe rethink coming here at all if you're the kind of person who's easily distracted (e.g. by your phone) when the kids...
