This place is a hidden gem in Dee Why but arguably has the best food in the whole area, combined with wonderful, warm service that made us feel more like we were dining at the home of family friends. Right from our arrival, Giovanni aka John made us feel so welcome and his attention to detail and care as he looked after us made us feel so relaxed and at home. There was no stuffy, sterile atmosphere here. Just a warm, intimate ambiance. Giovanni was a wonderful host and we chatted while the restaurant wasn’t busy but once 7pm hit it was a packed house. Still, Giovanni found time to check in on us regularly and made sure that we were well looked after. In the meanwhile, Sonya was cooking up a storm and creating delicious cuisine in the open kitchen. The quality and flavour of the food really exemplifies the love and care that is infused into each dish. For me, it brought back memories of when I was a child and used to go to my Italian neighbour for dinner and loved the fresh, home made Italian cuisine. Even the garlic and herb breads (yes we ordered both) were delightful. Crunchy on the outside and beautifully soft and buttery on the inside. The crab meat ravioli with mussels in a beautiful pink cream sauce were flavoursome with the freshness of the crab shining through the beautifully al dente pasta. The duck ravioli was truly outstanding and blew my mind. You can taste the beautifully roasted duck and the mushroom cream sauce complements the tender ravioli beautifully. The sauces for both dishes that we ordered the herb bread to mop up the remaining sauce as we didn’t want to waste it. For mains we ordered the pepper steak and veal bosiciola. Both dishes did not disappoint. The pepper steak was a deliciously flavoursome eye filet cooked to perfection, served up with a rich, creamy brandy peppercorn sauce that was better than equivalent pepper sauces that I have had at so-called steakhouses such as Chophouse, Meat & wine co, Kingsley and even Black by Ezard. The Veal Bosociola I the meanwhile was so tender that I could cut it with a spoon. The veal was a quality cut as I could still taste the delicate flavour through the rich bosociola sauce. The beautiful flavours were a party in my mouth. The fresh seasonal vegetables accompanying both dishes balanced each dish well and provided us with additional “props” to mop up those amazing sauces. The gelatos for dessert rounded off a beautiful dining experience, especially in the warm Sydney weather. We will definitely be back again soon and highly recommend Giovanni’s. It is unpretentious, warm and inviting and serves up some of the best home made, fresh and flavoursome Italian cuisine in Sydney. This is coming from someone that has eaten at a lot of Italian restaurants in general. Thank you once again Giovanni and Sonya for your hospitality and keep up the wonderful standards that you have set and we’ll...
Read moreWhaaaat!!?? These guys could be on the "Chef's Table" program. Seriously. Entering the door being met by the heart warming smiles of the owners, a beautiful Italian couple, the good atmosphere was set from the start. And I was only picking up take-away...!!! This was a real and genuine experience of passionate food, where the taste is making your eyes roll to the back of your head, but it's more than the taste - it's love. This food is made with LOVE - and you can feel it in every bone of your body as you find yourself too full and unable to finish the generous serves, as if your grandmother...
Read moreI had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The food was reminiscent of a lovingly home-cooked meal, which was just perfect. We were also thrilled to discover that we could bring our own wine to the restaurant, which added to the already wonderful experience. As relatively new residents of Dee Why, this restaurant has quickly become one of our top three go-to spots. We’ll definitely be...
