Overall very satisfying meal, we went for a dinner where they were only doing their set menu which was a bit unexpected and ended up being quite a bit more expensive than planned. I understand that they generally do also offer a la carte, and that there are also lunch specials. In terms of the set menu, I think they had a good variety of options, and almost everything was very appealing to me. The kingfish carpaccio was light and subtle, and the spring salad my friend had was lovely, the mix of citrus and cheese which I thought was an unexpected pairing was actually very well done. For the mains, the duck was perfectly cooked, as was the zucchini flower which still had some bite to it. My friend's steak was enjoyable, but I think not nearly as nice as the duck. For dessert, the chocolate mousse with salted chocolate sauce and olive oil was probably a bit much - it was a bit too rich, a bit too salty, and while a few mouthfuls were lovely it was actually quite hard to finish. The pavlova was a much more balanced dessert, not too sweet or too tart. The location is nice, it was busy in that quiet hum kind of way, not a bustling way. I think calling this a diner is probably a bit of a misleading name! The staff were friendly, and the courses were served at a reasonable pace. I was a bit put off by being asked for a tip at the till on a $200 bill, and I hope this doesn't become standard practice...

I couldn’t recommend this place more. We had such a great experience last night. The service was on point, super friendly, always around and they definitely knew what they did. But the food was another level. The taste combinations were a bliss. We ordered as starters the burrata with tomatoes and plum and I couldn’t stop eating, the sourdough with olive oil wich had a perfectly warm and rounded taste and the prawns were perfectly cooked/grilled. As mains we had the tagliatelle with pipis, the snapper and the duck. The tagliatelle were freshly made with a wonderful, slightly chilly sauce, wich was a great experience for my taste buds. The snapper was cooked on point with the greatest sauce to eat with, rarely had such a good tasting sauce, I really mean it. But the duck was even better. 7 days aged, oh lord that was a duck made in heaven. Also here, the sauce in combination with fresh plum, mmmh. The portions were perfect and we didn’t over eat, but I didn’t have space for a dessert. Next time though, I will definitely try myself through the dessert section as well. Thank you guys for a great night! We are definitely...

Have been here many times and enjoyed the always excellent food and service. Am taking a point off this time as I was disappointed to find that although I’d booked an outdoor table my partner and I were allocated the smallest outdoor table with room only to sit side by side not opposite each other . When I expressed my disappointment that we couldn’t sit at the larger more comfortable outdoor table, where we could sit opposite each other I was told that those tables were for groups of four only. We were instead offered a table for two inside right by the door, as an alternative, which we took. I was annoyed to see that one of the larger outdoor tables remained vacant for the whole evening and I noticed there were better situated vacant tables for two inside which we would have preferred to sit at, but had not been offered. Seating placement is important to me as it impacts the ambience so I’m not sure if I will return here. Having said that, the service was attentive throughout our meal and the food was...

Pros: Ambience (especially the outdoor seats looks really comfortable). The duck liver pate starter was one of the best I've had in Sydney! The other two dishes I will recommend are Roast Duck main and the vegie side dish (brussel sprouts and walnuts) Cons: based on the price and the low number of people dinning in - the service wasn't good enough. The 2 female waitresses were friendly but a little hard to get their attention. The male waiter did not even give us a smile or greet us when we were entering or leaving which is a bit awkward. The Scotch fillet was recommended by people on Zomato so I ordered as my main but it was quite salty (both my friends tried my steak and agree with me) and was almost like home cooked and not worth the price tag of $38. Overall mixed feelings for this place. Maybe my expectation was a bit high.

I'm always hoping that chefs find it a professional challenge to make a vegan variation to set menu. GPD certainly took it on and succeeded. For the most part. The venue is a local favourite and had been around for more than a decade. It's not surprising it's survived a pandemic. The food is excellent, some vegan options were unique some were just garnishes from other meals. The potato aioli on toast was my fav and the coconut sorbet. The vegetable mishmash was tasty but did feel like a collection of garnishes. The chocolate truffle, which was a chocolate coated prune, was not a nice surprise. What was an expectation of a decadent experience in a truffle fell very short. Overall the service was great, the wine was great the vegan options, like the prune truffle, just fell a little short.
