Did this about 12-16 months ago and it was great. A slick operation and very professional. Did it last night and this was NOT the case. The people in the auditorium talked loudly and we couldn't hear the presentation. She requested a few times as did we that they stop so we could hear. They didn't and as a result she continued regardless resulting in it becoming boring as we couldn't hear and one friend nearly went to sleep. Last time the lady was called Roberta Muir (I think) and you couldn't hear a pin drop. The lady doing the presentation was very nice but didn't seem able or willing to manage the noise.

During cooking we were missing some utensils and had to find someone to get them. They had not enough of some ingredients. Having said this the young guy assisting was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful.

Once in the dining room with our prepared food on the table we waited for our rice and our wine as our dishes went cold. There was no staff to be seen in the dining room . After a hopeful wait I ended up going out and finding the lady and she ended up providing us with our rice and our wine. The recipes were the same as last time which luckily we still really enjoyed. It was such a different experience to last time and not...

This was a gift from my partner and took us more than 6 months to secure our booking.. but it was worth it.

We had an absolute fun day with the cooking lessons and took us an hour to kind of memorise what was transpired in the lessons (and they were rather helpful cooking techniques), but we also have a nicely printed recipes that we will cook for the day. As adults who are a bit anxious on what's gonna happen next in the itinerary, it kept us guessing what we will do next. It was an entertaining hour with the chef/teacher.

Next hour we have found ourselves getting into a small group of 4. Again as people with a bit of social anxiety, it was quite a short time to get to know the ladies that we were partnered with (and apparently they were the perfectionists) and we are not so we were bombarded with several questions such as do we know what sardines are or have I ever cooked before. So if you are not as friendly as they are, maybe in hindsight choose the people that you think you can connect with. At the end of the day we all enjoyed the simple dishes, so tasty and my partner and I are looking forward to make these dishes again. Such a fun and...

We just wrapped up an incredible South East Asian cooking class at the Sydney Fish Markets, and it exceeded expectations. Guided by our talented head chef and instructor Michelle, the session was a perfect blend of learning, fun, and delicious food.

Michelle brought deep knowledge, patience, and energy to the session, making everyone—from beginners to more confident cooks—feel comfortable and engaged. She walked us through three standout dishes: a BBQ chilli salt squid that had the perfect balance of heat and smokiness, a crispy fried fish that was golden perfection, and a green mango salad that was vibrant, zesty, and incredibly fresh.

The ingredients were top quality (unsurprising for the Fish Markets!), the kitchen setup was professional yet welcoming, and the class had a great team-building atmosphere. Whether you're a food lover, keen home cook, or just looking for a fun experience in Sydney, this class is absolutely worth it.

Looking forward to coming back for more. Highly...

Sydney seafood school invited me to a Sea Urchin cooking class on the weekend. What an amazing experience. We were warmly greeted with a glass of champagne and sea urchin canapes then we had a classroom session where Alex from the Sydney Fish Market taught us about the invasive species of purple spine sea urchin along the NSW coastline. We then had a demonstration of how to make sea urchin egg custards, sea urchin butter and fettuccine carbonara with urchins. I joined with 4 other friends at a cooking bench and made those dishes. We had a great time and enjoyed a nice meal together. Staff were very helpful and ready to help us with any questions. inspired to cook these at home. A great bonding experience for all and we got to keep our aprons and recipes. Fantastic. I'm going to check out their many other courses too
