The owner's wife is racist. If you don't want to host yellow people please write on the plaque at the entrance that yellow people are not allowed inside. After three of us Chinese arrived at this Chinese restaurant, there were still two tables inside, but he said he had a very large number of reservations for this small restaurant and didn't pay any attention at all to the customers outside who were immediately finished eating and ready to get up. Evidently it was actually not intended to host Chinese people to begin with, but unfortunately for my poor, we didn't realize this. My friend found a chair at the side of the restaurant and ate his burger with his bare hands, which was our problem, we should have asked if we could bring our own food, the guy came over and said he wanted to charge a service fee, we said ok and apologized. But then the next dramatic scene happened the owner's wife got very angry and yelled at us to hurry up and throw our burger box away from us. My friend's headphones and cigarettes were still in the bag, and she was so scared that she hurriedly threw them under a nearby tree. But then the little brother came back and said that an internal officer said how can we throw things? Said we were impolite, in fact, we have been doubtful about this point, because the customers inside is very difficult to notice the outside at all, if you want to be directly difficult, we can not find this kind of high-sounding excuse. The owner's wife said to throw the stuff out, and the little man said to hurry up and put it in. A store where the personnel have extremely bad attitudes, make random excuses, and say different things. This store is racist because it didn't want to receive us in the first place, followed by ordering first for the white customers who came after us in the order. The Chinese restaurant did not have any Chinese menus, and when faced with Chinese customers, they still spoke English when the customers spoke Chinese. The last dramatic scene came, I said to the boss's wife that your attitude towards us is not good, and left a bad Google review, the boss's wife said you guys are not allowed to leave, and did not allow us to pay the bill, said he has now called the police, waiting for the police to come to arrest us, I would like to know what I have done wrong, is it because I left a bad review should be called the police, and restricted personal freedom for 10 minutes (and he did do so), said We are not allowed to leave because the owner's wife called the police. Then I do understand why this store has a 4.7 rating. We all know that some people love to brush up their store reviews, but this one is even more outrageous because if you give a bad review you have to deal with the owner's wife not paying the bill and restricting your personal freedom, as well as calling the police and threatening to...
Read moreI decided to have lunch at this restaurant early afternoon on Wednesday 5 April. The restaurant was empty except for a table of eight elderly patrons who had no doubt been there for a while because of the number of empty wine bottles lined up on the doorstep behind their table. They added another empty bottle after I sat down. I ordered prawn fried rice for $26.00 expecting to get at least six medium size prawns with the usual serving of fried rice. I waited and waited for my meal whilst the other table was served plate after plate of food. Thirty five minutes or so later I received a small bowl of rice. When it was placed on the table there was no sign of prawns. I asked the waiter where are the prawns. She told me they were under the rice. After sorting through the rice I found a number of very tiny prawns; the size of which you could not find for sale at fish markets or seafood outlets. There was little else with the rice except for pieces of fried egg. The dish looked bland and very unappetising. I mentioned to staff when I paid that I had expected at least six medium size prawns with the usual ingredients of fried rice. I was humoured by the young waiter and told that prawns are very expensive these days and it was not about size but quantity. I would give this restaurant and staff zero for service, and zero for...
Read moreA hidden gem in the heart of Sydney! Grape Garden is a relaxed, no-fuss restaurant in a busy part of town. It feels great to sit and enjoy a meal here—nothing pretentious, just incredible food and warm, friendly service.
We had the shallot pancake, noodles with chicken and peanuts, pork and prawn dumpling soup, steamed vegetable dumplings, pan-fried beef dumplings, and prawn fried rice. Every single dish was packed with flavour and cooked perfectly.
Don’t miss their chilli oil sauce—it’s seriously delicious and adds a perfect kick to everything. They sell it by the jar, and you’ll definitely want to take one home.
Huge thanks to Ecca, who gave us the best advice on what to order. He’s so friendly and made us feel right at home.
We’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in...
