Gymea Bay Seafood Grill — Restaurant in Sydney

My experience at this place was extremely disappointing. I ordered a dozen Pacific oysters and had to repeat my order multiple times—three times to one staff member and twice to another—before they finally understood. After that, I waited over 15 minutes, even though there were no other customers waiting, only to receive my order in a takeaway box despite clearly stating I intended to dine in. There were no oysters displayed behind the counter, which should have been a warning sign. When I asked for Tabasco sauce, the staff didn’t seem to understand what I was requesting. I decided to try eating one oyster, only to discover it was frozen inside. Upon checking the others, I found they were all frozen. I paid $36 for a dozen frozen oysters—$8 to $10 more than the usual price—and this is from a fish and chips shop, not a fancy restaurant. Frustrated, I returned them and expressed my dissatisfaction. The staff refunded me without hesitation, which made it clear they knew there was an issue. I wouldn’t recommend buying anything from this place—it felt unprofessional...

Friendly and accommodating English might not be their first language (?) but they accommodate what you want and are super friendly

Prices are better than other places around, especially the place about 5 up (The Barra), what an expensive place that is, looking all fancy and costing a fortune but not delivering anything better than Gymea Bay Seafood Grill in my opinion

The place could do with a renovation but don't let it's appearance fool you because the food is very nice and the price very good and the service is very friendly

I rate a fish & chip shop on four products: Battered fish, prawn cutlets, chips, and potato scallops. It’s rare for any cafe to get all 4 of them right, but this place basically nailed them all!!!

Very close to perfect!! The cutlets were superb - juicy, flavoursome, crisp crumb coating - just amazing (100/100), the fish was spectacular - cooked to perfection, with an awesome crisp batter (100/100), the chips were excellent, with enough nice crispy little ones (my favourite) another (100/100), and the potato scallops almost perfect - just a bit inconsistent in how thick they were sliced so some were a bit too thick (99/100). So glad we found this place...
