What is impressive about "Hatch" is not the coffee. Don't get me wrong - the coffee is good (it's Grinders), and is espressed well by the barista, but the main thing that is a stand out at this little hole-in-the-wall (or Hatch) are the menu items.
They're unique in cafe land.
Hatch has one of the best bacon and egg rolls in the city.
Hatch makes its own Middle Eastern savory pastries for - and I am not joking - $2.
The B&E roll is a long baguette with two eggs and heaps of bacon drizzled with your choice of sauce (BBQ or tomato). It's $5 (yes $5). It's filling, it's good, it has lots of bacon (get the point)?
But I urge you all that the must tries are the freshly baked savories - there's the mini meat "pie" (a pide) topped with minced beef; onion; tomato; spices and pomegranate molasses, the three cheese pie stuffed with feta; halloumi and mozzarella, and finally, the spinach and feta pie. All three are great breakfast or snack options for those with only a couple of gold coins in their pocket.
If you are in the Chippendale area don't let it's hatch put you off - you will get on of the best coffees and snacks...
Read moreThere’s a place near the station, small and discreet, Where brekkie dreams gather and wraps can’t be beat I wandered in once, just chasing a train, Came out reborn—with sujuk on the brain
The brekkie wrap sizzled, so spicy and bold, Eggs, sujuk, and magic—all neatly rolled It hugged my soul and cleared my mind, I considered a tattoo: “Wraps So Fine.”
Then came the oregano veggie delight, A herby, zesty, plant-based bite It whispered, “You don’t need meat,” with flair, And I swear I saw angels… in Tupperware
But wait—the coffee. Sweet caffeinated bliss A Campos flat white so good, I gave it a kiss Smooth like jazz, with a bold, rich tone, It could wake the dead, legends or at least my phone
So here’s to that joint, a humble delight, Near Chippendale Station, a true appetite knight Five stars, no doubt, and a little love song, For the wraps and the coffee that never do...

I passed this place many times and never paid to much attention - what a mistake!
This is a small, kiosk style, coffee shop, but there are a few tables outside. Coffee was excellent (espresso), and since I mentioned that I would sit it was served in a proper espresso cup - something that I appreciate very much.
I ate - well ... too much :)))) Food was yummy and I had to buy a couple of pastries for take away when I was leaving. I tried 3 different types of pastries, all were amazing. Soft, fresh, warm and more than affordable; $3 per reasonably sized piece.
I will definitely be back and I am looking forward to trying other food, I have doubts that it is also great. if you are anywhere around Central or Broadway, don't miss Hatch Espresso - you won't regret it.
Service was very good too....
