You want an easy simple place to stay? Well don’t stay here let me tell ya that much. Get to the hotel and the door to my checked in room did not lock, I was then told it would take an hour for the manager to come off his break to fix it, 50 mins later I was advised I would be room moved as they were unable to fix the door as at this time it was roughly 8:30pm local time. I then was advised to move my bags 2 rooms over and come down stairs to get a key for that room, in the time I went downstairs the front desk girl was adamant she would fix the door, so then it was back in the elevator with the manager and the front desk girl to attempt to fix the door again. After 7 attempts the door was then fixed, great right? Well my bags are now in another room I do not have a key to, so then I had to get that room unlocked to come back into my original booked room. First of all cleaning a hotel bathroom is really not a hard task, walking into a bathroom full of foundation marks in a sink and marks on the mirror is appalling. Also hope you like tripping over walking into the bathroom as there’s quite a large blunt ledge with no marking/ skirting to make it obvious that it’s there. Want to use the advertised Netflix on the tv? Goodluck with that the hotel has soft locked any form of smart TV function that any of the TVs have. You’ve been advised your room will be serviced daily? Thats a funny one, they’ll service it on the 7th night of your 8 night stay and leave your door ajar so anyone and their dog could just walk into your room. Also you’ll have a free room mate (a big fat cockroach) who will join you from the gap in the wall from the aircon unit, also black out curtains? Where? Met by a construction site out the window with flood lights and black out curtains that don’t even fit one window, but wait it gets better, the other window doesn’t even have any. You want to get woken up by a fire alarm? No worries ask your upstairs neighbours to just drill into the floor above your head at roughly 8:00am sharp. Also don’t go looking at any of the test and tag labels as they’re out of date last tested in 2019, not a good look...
Read moreAs soon as I walked into the hotel the smell was strange. The lobby was dark and the receptionist was not at the reception all the time although it was 24 hour service. The receptionist didn't greet me and looked indifferent.
The whole hallway on my room's floor was dark, shabby and smelly. There was mould on the wall, ceiling, floor and tower rail in the bathroom. Disgusting. Sink was not clean as well. Additionally, you can hear other people talking in the room next to you.
When I requested to change the room, the receptionist said she could change a room for me. But after checking with the manager, the manager asked the receptionist how many nights I was going to stay. After he knew it was only 1 night he wanted to check the room with me.
In the elevator the manager said they were not a 5 star hotel and I only paid for the location. He literally said the reviews were all online, he didn't know why people were still coming to stay with them. (What???)
When checking the mould, he told me every room has the mould and that they can’t do anything about it. If they planned to renovate they wouldn't have any room to do business. With such price, they only need to keep toilet and bed sheets clean.
I chose this hotel because I needed to depart for an important event from the central station at 5:30am next morning and this hotel was the closest one. I know it's not expensive, but I at least deserve a room without mould!
It's the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Not only because how dirty and smelly it was, but also the manager's attitude. How can you expect a hotel would care about you if the manager positions it as low level, doesn't know why people still book their hotel, and doesn't expect guests to come back?
Don't book this hotel!!! Even the manager doesn't know why you would book it!They literally see guests as fools who can't afford a better hotel! They were very disrespectful and literally showed me that they didn't care about the guests. I hope they...
Read moreLiked - Service from the front desk is good, particularly from the night managers such as Joseph (what a great guy!) The hotel is very well located opposite Central train station; perfect as I was coming by train from Melbourne. The hotel is old but the double glazed windows really made a difference to the street noise; my room was on the 9th floor and for longer stays like mine (a week) essential. For a city hotel, this was a reasonably quiet stay, even on a Saturday night. Room size and facilities are good. Bed was comfy and the TV was of good quality/ larger than you would expect. Excellent Hitachi air con. HOWEVER...see below....
Disliked - Limited house keeping services for a week long stay. No face washers. Mould on the ceiling of the bathroom and rot around the bottom of the bathroom door due to damp build up (lack of ventilation). Bathroom sink did not look clean but somewhat stained. Carpet could have been cleaned better. Musky smell in the passageway with uneven frayed carpet doesn't inspire confidence. Maintenance issues persist here. UPDATE: I paid for this hotel on booking.com on 31 March and then the hotel charged me another $1555.93 to my credit card which made me overdrawn on my VISA. When I rang the hotel, the guy at the front desk said he was not authorised to refund me but he will check with his manager. I am waiting to hear back...UPDATE 2: Manager Clayton rang back to apologise, he will submit an application for a refund to their finance department for approval and, if approved, this refund will take between 7 - 14 working days to process. I may be out of pocket and overdrawn on my credit card until the 28th April despite this not being my fault. When I checked out earlier, as I had a 7.40 am train back to Melbourne, the staff member who checked me out processed the double payment on my credit card. It was implied to me that this may have caused the error. You...
