The dinner was outstanding! Bursting with flavors, the food not only tasted exceptional but also looked incredibly appetizing. Our server, Sofiya, hailing from Russia, not only displayed great attentiveness but also brought a genuine passion for hospitality, setting a charming tone for the evening. Encountering someone so dedicated and caring is truly rare—a delight to the industry! What a delightful culinary journey! The night was enhanced by the exceptional pairing of exquisite food and outstanding service. The dinner was outstanding! Bursting with flavors, the food not only tasted exceptional but also looked incredibly appetizing. The friendly service added to the fantastic dining experience, creating an evening of pure deliciousness. We opted for the Set Menu for two, featuring Flatbread upon arrival, a succulent Tomahawk steak, 2 sides of our choice, which I got mash potato’s and purpled carrots Served with mushrooms, jus sauce, followed by dessert of Cointreau chocolate eclair, accompanied by 2 glasses of house wine. the food quality is amazing. The taste is on another level. We also added an extra side of Honey glazed halloumi cheese topped with pistachio nuts. Oh my God that was out of this world. The steak was cooked to perfection and it was massive. We couldn’t even finish it for the side. We got this purple carrots that I’ve never seen before, and they tasted amazing. There were just deliciousI really enjoyed everything only feedback I would say to the restaurant is they need to pay attention to their stains on the carpet when I first walked into the restaurant. I was nervous that I had low expectation as how dirty the carpet was but then with the service and the food I was not disappointed at all. I would definitely recommend this place. What a delightful culinary journey! The night was enhanced by the exceptional pairing of exquisite food and outstanding service.

I started my meal with the chef's recommended appetizer, house baked Flat bread with pumpkin puree and pan seared Halloumi with honey and pistachio and it was delicious. For the main course, I opted for the slow-cooked lamb shoulder with roasted vegetables and Mong Fish. The lamb was tender and succulent, with a rich depth of flavor that was simply divine. The accompanying roasted vegetables were cooked to perfection, adding a delightful freshness to the dish. The service at Platform 818 was impeccable, with the staff being attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about their craft. They were more than willing to accommodate any special dietary requests and provided excellent recommendations throughout the meal. However when we arrived there were only 2-3 others tables other then a function on which quite a few people there. The restaurant certainly was not booked out and could fit us in. If the restaurant could not deal with 2 more people due to low staff etc this should have been relayed to us and not cancelled our reservation. We then ordered 2 x 22 Hour Beef Short Rib (GF/DF)  45. My wife had her cut (small but no fat) However my small piece was at least 80-90% fat. I was turned off with the first mouthful which was fat only. I was asked by Marvin (who was very pleasant to speak with) how everything was and I told him. He apologized and said he would speak with the chef however that's where it ended. I thought I would get an apology from the chef or the manager but nothing else was said about this experience. Marvin had organized a dessert for our anniversary which was super but this did not make up for the $45 meal being very poor quality. When we went to paid I believe the Manager sorted out the bill and again nothing was said about the meal I was disappointed out and was not asked if I wanted anything else etc. The dessert was a nice gesture but did not make up for my meal being mainly fat. Again Marvin was so professional and kind so +++ for him but the quality of food I would need to question. We had ordered the House Made Flatbread (V/DF)  13 and this was plain and ordinary and would not order this again. We ordered 2 other sides which were ok.

My visit to Platform 818 was a mixed experience that left me torn on how to rate this establishment. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was well-prepared. However, an unfortunate incident with one staff member who displayed a concerning lack of empathy, has left me conflicted. I may not speak fluently in English, but I believe in the principle that every customer should be treated equally and with respect, regardless of their colour, cultural/language backgrounds or financial status.

The restaurant's ambiance and the quality of the dishes were undoubtedly highlights of our evening. We particularly enjoyed the well-executed flavors and presentation of our meals. Unfortunately, our positive experience took an unexpected turn when we ordered the flatbread.

One of our guests has a severe peanut allergy, so we inquired about potential allergens in the flatbread when it was served. Most of the staff were incredibly considerate and helpful, providing detailed information about the dish and communicating with the kitchen. This particular staff member, who I can only describe as passive-aggressive and domineering in behaviour, seemed to blame us for having an allergy. Despite our genuine concern and polite questioning, she was dismissive and refused to acknowledge the presence of peanuts in the dish. This was particularly distressing as other staff members had confirmed the allergen. She was also impatient in training other staff members who were visibly distressed from her tone and behaviour.

The encounter left a sour taste in our mouths, metaphorically speaking. The dismissive attitude, the refusal to double-check, and the accusatory tone were entirely uncalled for. As paying customers from various walks of life, we expect a basic level of understanding and consideration, especially when it comes to potential health risks.

While the majority of the staff demonstrated commendable professionalism and attentiveness, the behavior of this one staff member significantly impacted our overall experience. It's disheartening to encounter such a lack of empathy, especially when dealing with a serious matter like allergies.

In conclusion, Platform 818 has a lot to offer in terms of its culinary offerings and overall atmosphere. However, the regrettable incident with the insensitive staff member has left me uncertain about the overall rating. I hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses the need for consistent customer service across all members...

One star which is only for the ambiance. The rest of my dining experience was like an episode of Fawlty Towers. When my friend arrived no one offered her any water. We ordered drinks and my drink promptly arrived but hers was forgotten, we had to ask for it again. Upon finishing the entrees we were asked if we wanted to see the desert menu. I had to point out that we would actually like to have the main courses that we had ordered. My pork belly was not crispy and when I pointed this out to the waiter he immediately started to argue with me. I asked to see the manager and asked if he can cut my piece of pork belly. He agreed that he could not. I settled on a side of chips for my dinner. Even they were absolutely covered in salt. I've never seen such salty chips served in a restaurant. I was offered free chips for my awful experience. Even when it was time to pay the waitress didn't understand how to charge my credit card. There are lots of places to eat in Chippendale and do yourself a favor and go and eat elsewhere. The best thing about this place is that if you are on George Street, the restaurant is hidden from view.

Co-incidentally my dining companion had stayed at the hotel where this restaurant is a few years ago. In the middle of the night a complete stranger entered her room and asked who the heck is she. She asked who the heck are you. She explained that it's her room, and he explained that it's his room. He went downstairs and then reception rings her up a few minutes later and asks how she got into the room. She explained that she had paid for the room and has a receipt and a key and not to ring guests in the middle of the night. At breakfast she discovered that the same thing happened to her work colleague as well.

The manager of this hotel should be fired and never work in hospitality ever again. This must be the worst hotel in the...
