Isan Tum Zaap — Restaurant in Sydney

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+ If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would!

Having recently moved to Burwood, NSW, I was thrilled when a friend from New Zealand recommended Isan Tum Zaap. My family and I had our first meal here while still staying in a hotel, and it set the bar incredibly high for our new local dining experiences.

From the moment we walked in, the owner was exceptionally kind and friendly. We ordered a variety of dishes including Hoi Tod (mussel pancake), Pad Thai, Thai pork sausages, BBQ squid, and Thai salad. Every dish was fantastic—my family loved everything. The prices are also very affordable, making it accessible for everyone to enjoy.

After our meal, we had a lovely chat with the owner, who went out of his way to provide us with helpful information about the area. His generosity and hospitality extended beyond the food service, making us feel truly welcomed in our new neighborhood.

Since that first visit, we’ve found a beautiful place to live, but we keep returning to Isan Tum Zaap countless times. The food and service remain consistently amazing. I am honored to share this wonderful experience with everyone. This place is a gem, and I can't recommend it...

The beef and pork skewers were very bland, nothing to rave about. The sauce/marinade was weak; I was expecting a juicy hit of flavour but there was nothing. The beef pad thai was very dry, again zero flavour. The Thai fried rice with beef was the worst dish, rice had literally NO flavour at all, the chicken tasted like it was poached with nothing added to it and just tossed in with the rice. The food is overall very bland. Not sure if this is meant to be authentic Thai, but it certainly isn't the usual Thai I've tried.

The seating was horrible, we sat right outside the restaurant where the crowds were all squeezing past our table. Very stressful along with the traffic noises and it was uncomfortable overall. The service was ok, but the food did come out very slow. We waited about 15-20 mins for our order. Price is decent, it was $30 altogether for 2 mains and 2 skewers but unfortunately this is not enough for me to go back. I do not...

I had one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a restaurant here on Saturday night. They gave my food to someone else but insisted they gave it to my family, despite me standing there with the receipt waiting. They wouldn't accept that they didn't in fact give us our food and wouldn't give us a refund. They also threatened to call the police and I told them to go ahead, given they had stolen from me. What resulted was 20 mins of us yelling back and forth at each other. Once my aunty asked for camera footage proving they had given us the food, they immediately gave us a refund.

Their conduct through the incident was disgusting. They should have acknowledged their error and offered a refund or to remake our food. We will...
