This place really needs to be more transparent about what is actually included in their buffet menus. For a buffet of that price, the range of items that is included is tiny, and their menus are incredibly stingy. This is the smallest range of items I have ever seen for a buffet, and left us feeling very ripped off.

The way their $48 and $65 menus works is that you can only pick out of the options they have provided on the page, and that's it. So if you chose the $65 buffet, you can only choose the items on the $65 Buffet page. Any items on other pages cost extra, and they are charged ontop of the buffet cost (this including side dishes (like edamame) and a la carte). This charge is per person.

What is actually included in each buffet menu: only choices of 2 meats/3 meats ($48 buffet / $65 buffet), white steamed rice, raw egg, boiled plain udon (no soup), raw vegetables, and sesame dipping sauce. That's it. The difference between the two buffet menus is access to ONE additional cut of beef, otherwise the menu is identical, and paying an additional $20 to do that is a rip off. A La Carte, side dishes, and drinks cost extra. You are essentially eating a tiny menu in massive quantities, so this gets very boring very quickly.

You get only one serve of dessert per person that's inclusive with the buffet, and any extra serves of dessert are charged. The only dessert is tiny pre-packed ice cream tubs (choc/vanilla/strawberry). Although these are store bought pre-packaged tubs, these have a really weird artificial sweetener after taste that tastes like new factory plastic packaging.

Other buffets offer a much bigger range of items, and at least the side dishes are inclusive with the buffet.

I would not...

I waited for over an hour just to finally reach the front, only to be told we would need to wait an additional 30 minutes. At that point, I decided to leave because the experience had already been beyond frustrating. This is not just slow service—it’s a complete lack of respect for customers’ time.

What made it worse is that no one bothered to inform us about the extended wait beforehand. Instead, they continued letting other people inside ahead of us, which felt unfair and disorganized. If there is going to be such a long delay, the least a restaurant can do is communicate honestly and set realistic expectations, rather than leaving people standing around uncertain and frustrated.

The customer service was equally disappointing. The woman at the front counter did not greet us kindly, offer reassurance, or even show basic professionalism. Instead, she stared and even laughed, which made the entire experience feel dismissive and rude. That interaction alone ruined any trust I might have had in the place.

On top of that, the food did not look appetizing at all from what I saw being served inside. For a restaurant that makes customers wait excessive amounts of time, I would expect high-quality dishes worth the delay, but from the appearance alone, it looked like it wasn’t worth it.

I have been to many restaurants—both casual and high-end—and I can confidently say this has been the worst overall experience I’ve ever had. Between the disorganized management of wait times, the lack of transparency, the rude behavior from staff, and the unappealing food, there is simply no reason I would ever return.

Terrible service, terrible customer experience, and a place I would strongly advise...

I went there tonight with my friend. We picked the more expensive buffet option. I thought the food was pretty good & fresh but lacking variety. All the waitresses served us were pretty nice. We did not pay too much attention to how long we have been dining as we were enjoying each other's company.

All of a sudden, our nice Friday night out takes a different turn. A waiter came to our table and said "Are you guys aware there is a 90 minutes dining time limit? Before we could answer no to his question, he then said, "you guys need go soon, oh, by the way, there's food left on the table still. Normally we would charge a penalty but I think you guys are first time visitors so I am going to be nice & waive that". I could not believe what I was hearing. Of course there is food on the table because we were still eating!! How dare I not appreciate his generosity for waiving our penalty!! I should be so thankful right? (Btw, the restaurant is half empty with no one queuing outside.)

I have never encountered any waiting staff as rude as this guy. When we paid, he told us his name is Jason and he is the owner of this restaurant. I'm not sure if he is telling the truth but if it is, good job Jason, I can't think of a better way to get returning customer!!

Many restaurants have dining time limits but there is a way to convey your message politely. The sheer rudeness is appalling and Jason, please learn...

This review is for the buffet during dinner time (as they’re currently having promo for buffet until 18/12/2023: for every group of 4 adults, 1 person is free on Monday-Friday lunch & dinner). The buffet options are $48 & $68, with the latter having higher Wagyu MB. We chose the $48 option & the meat was good already with nice marbling. You have the option of either Sukiyaki or Shabu Shabu soup. We chose Sukiyaki & it was great. I really liked the egg & sesame sauce for dipping (love the fresh chilli 🌶️ as well for freshness). Also included: unlimited mix veggies, udon, rice, cabbage salad etc & soft drinks! You also get 1 serve of ice cream per person. Order are easily placed via iPad, and such fast & friendly service too! However I hope that they’ll more variety (such as side dishes or something) in the future, as I feel that the options are a bit limited. Or if we can order certain veggies separately rather than a mix bowl of it! Kids friendly (highchairs available). There’s 5% discount for cash payment. I believe they can only take bookings for groups of 4 adults or more. The restaurant is not big (so you might have to wait if there are no bookings) and there are timed slots for buffets.

Moyashi Japanese hotpot is probably one of the best hotpot you can find in Burwood Chinatown. The restaurant serves Japanese shabu shabu but is run by Chinese. It appears like a small restaurant from outside, but once inside the space is quite big and can easily accommodate 30-40 guests. However due to its popularity, by 6pm onwards you’ll see a long queue waiting to get a table. The best time to come and guarantee a table is around 5pm. There’s no surprise why Moyashi is so popular, not only are the buffet choices affordable but the service is exceptional. There’s two buffet choices - standard $48 and premium $68 (difference in premium, you get a seafood and premium wagyu). Another thing that makes Moyashi better than other buffets are their unlimited non-alcoholic drinks included as part of the buffet. There is a 90 minute duration and no penalty for unfinished food. Food is ordered via iPad, and food is brought out immediately and empty plates taken away. We were extremely happy dining at Moyashi and will return again in the future.
