As I frequently visit Westfield Miranda and saw the perfect 5 star rating at Jamaica Blue, I thought I'd finally give it a go for a dine in experience, and to summarise this review I'm very glad that I'm taking away a perfect 5 star rating on google.
Jamaica Blue is a central and ideally located cafe on L2 of Miranda Westfield between NAB bank and Vodafone, and realistically I think that their location is the only contributing factor to returning customers.
When ordering I noticed a small lineup of about 5 people, and the dining area was just under half of their seating capacity. The staff member I spoke to was very nice and had excellent customer service, but unfortunately the good experience ended when I finished ordering.
At less than half capacity, the waiting time for drinks and pre-made cakes and desserts is ridiculous. Jamaica Blue completely prioritised takeaway customers and it took 15 minutes just to get a hot chocolate delivered to the table. There was an older couple who ordered a carrot cake before I even arrived and it took them atleast 20 minutes to take it out of the fridge and bring it over to them. Jamaica Blue is painfully understaffed and is quite simply too small to take up the amount of dining space they do.
For lunch I ordered a Steak Sandwich, I asked if it came with any sides and she said they didn't have a deep fryer but she could add hash browns at $1 each. She also told me the menu wasn't up to date and the sandwich also Included bacon. While this is definitely a nice addition I can't figure out why they haven't taken the time to reprint their 2 menus and have that extra ingredient showing, as if she didn't mention this and I was looking for a halal meal, I'd be outraged.
It took just a little over 20 minutes for my steak sandwich to be brought out (I don't place blame on the chef for this as he was the only one cooking) however I do place blame on the chef for what was quite simply, a terrible sandwich. Sticking out in the second photo you can see a massive fat piece of fat just hanging off the steak, and i can't figure out why he didn't take the effort to cut this off. It got even worse when i discovered my small minute steak was painfully overcooked and Incredibly dry. The sandwich itself was very small and the bbq sauce they gave me on the sandwich was weirdly sour and made a terrible sandwich worse. To cap it off I paid $27 for an awful steak sandwich and a mediocre hot chocolate.
To summarise, Jamaica Blue Cafe is at best a 2-3 star cafe and their only redeeming factor was that the lady who served me was quite pleasant. The food is bad, the drinks are nothing to rave about, and both take far too long to come out. I would absolutely not reccomend Jamaica Blue for a quick bite as you'd get fed just as quickly as if you drove to Cronulla, got a meal...
Read moreWe visited Jamaica Blue in Miranda today, but unfortunately, the experience wasn’t as good as our last visit. The food quality was disappointing—especially the chips that came with the burger, which looked and tasted off. On top of that, the service was very slow. It took over 30 minutes to serve a simple yogurt with strawberries, and I had to ask multiple times before it finally arrived. The staff seemed disorganized and inattentive, which made the visit frustrating. Hopefully, it was just an off day because we’ve had better experiences...
Read moreI think it would have killed the woman behind the counter to attempt a smile. I get it, you are at work and don’t want to be there… at least PRETEND I’m not an annoyance because I stupidly decided to eat here. Also, not sure if they served me the wrong thing, if not, that was the saddest “Brekkie Burger” I’ve ever seen! One slither of bacon, one flat egg and a tiny drizzle of bbq sauce….. yeah ok… “Brekkie Burger” I guess. I’ll just get my breakfast...
