The server gave me 2 mentos as a change for $130 in cash as the buffet price was $127.

I recently visited Koh Ya, expecting a pleasant dining experience, but unfortunately, it was anything but. The quality of the food, service and the overall experience was disappointing.

For the price of $127 for a buffet for 2 people was very disappointing. The quality of the food was horrible. The wagyu beef was tough and chewy, the food was bland and barely any seasoning or care in preparation. The pork ribs I ordered for 4 serving half of which was fat. To add to the disappointment, the "Assorted Fruits" dessert, which consisted of a tiny slice of pineapple and an orange, felt more like a lazy afterthought than a proper dessert offering.

The service was even the worst. The staff was so unorganised like there was no system of service. I asked what the special drink that was offered with the buffet was and the server couldn't give me a clearer answer. I ordered a cocktail and was told to mix it because the powder they put as a flavour was not mixed at all. It looked like it was just and after thought. I asked for the pork ribs to be returned, the staff looked at me like I'm supposed to eat fat and there was not even meat in them. Like in what universe do you not inspect the quality of food that goes out to the guest.

I couldn’t believe this was the best they could do, especially after looking at the menu, which promised much more than what was delivered. There was no apologise no nothing.

The table setting looked like an after thought. There was nothing inviting about a takeaway chopsticks, small plate, with a wipes to used after.

When things about to get even worse and worse. When I paid for the meal which was $127 and I gave the staff $130 in cash he gave me 2 mentos. I was in shocked.

Overall, The service was slow, the food was subpar, and I left feeling unsatisfied. I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality dining experience. FYI if I am giving a change of 2 mentos I might as well paid 127 mentos for the meal. Soooo disappointing...

Watch out this place serves rotten food!! Disgusting!!!This is one of the hardest reviews Ive had to give, we have been coming to this restaurant for a very long time and we have seen the price increase through the years and decline in the foods quality, I personally called the owner and brought this to her attention that the meat had an off taste and smell and that the only "wagyu" beef on the menu was anything but that, she said that she would make sure to have good quality meat from there on, which was not the case! As this place is not consistent! We went back on last Thursday we ordered meat and some chicken which had a horrible smell I would not give an animal this to eat! We complained payed and left, we felt ripped off and cheated out of $120! I called the restaurant and talked to the owner, not even an apology not even recognised that there was a mistake she denied it and said that the chicken was edible! I said to her that it was not fresh and that it smelled! And she ignored my remark ! My God how can you serve rotten food and say that it is edible! I do not recommend this place, and if you do take a risk to go just have a look at the kitchen so dirty and so is the owner! and she is the one that cuts the meat that is served to you!! Dont waste your money and time in this place! And read all the reviews! Many people have had the same experience! Also Im adding that there is a restaurant in the city that is amazing for japanese bbq and have the most amazing variety of fresh wagyu meat! Seriously this person the owner only has one type of wagyu on the menu and cant even get that right! The place that I highly recommend is "yakiniku...

Made a reservation for 6:30pm, and arrived a few minutes earlier. It was undeniable packed with customers that night. The staff were rushing all over the place, and had ignored us for a bit though it was understandable. We were finally seated when a staff came to help us out, and for the rest of the night, the staff attending to us were sweet, though I can feel the stress in their heads since it was so busy.

My partner and I had the buffet, and we had ordered so much food that it was overwhelming. Everything tasted incredible, and not a bit of meat was left to waste. The cooking grill was a bit difficult at first. We had really thinly sliced meat served to us initially so a lot of it was stuck to the grill. All the other meats weren’t a problem though. Everything tasted so good, and we soon realised that they were using a very similar kind of sauce for all the meats we were getting. Not that it was a problem, because the sauce definitely made it taste better. There was such a large array of foods to choose from that it would be a lot better if you saw it for yourself, but I can definitely say there’s something for everyone, and its well worth it. The quality of the food is also exceptional.

Would definitely come back again, and Id highly recommend to come here on an empty stomach so you can fully indulge...

Great value for money barbecue "buffet" - that is, eat-all-you-can. You order what you want and food (or raw seafood/meat/vegetable) is delivered to your table. This yakiniku place is run by Japanese and food quality and service level and attitude is authentic. The ox tongue and wagyu rib are great but then again so are so many other cuts of meat and prepared dishes including sides, salads, soups and rice. The secret is to pick what suits your mood and come back another day to try the rest. There is a time limit so make sure to get your last order in an hour after your first. When you do come back for more next time, check out the specials of the day. Oh and leave room for dessert - matcha ice cream and/or some fresh fruit is a great way to refresh your pallette after barbecue. (RATED 4 STARS) UPDATE on May 2019: Was pleasantly surprised that there was no crowd. As the meats arrived, I quickly realised why. Food quality has dropped significantly: most meats are chewy. We had to ask for scissors to cut up some of the cuts of beef. Even the ox tongue - which is usually fatty and tender - was dry and tough. I suggest checking recent reviews before coming back to this place.
