Hubby and I decided to spend valentine's here. We were seated almost immediately even though the place is quite packed. We placed our ordered and even thou we had to write our own order but we looked at it somehow quite interesting. Let me break it down to you guys our order.. it is as simple as prawn fried rice, steam rice, fried ginger barramundi and sweet mild chili crab.. its pretty simple write?? And we also indicated as much as possible to be mild or no chilli.. the waitress seems to understand and agreed.. and before I forget 2 passionfruit green tea and a coconut drink(in a shell)."" FIFTYNINE MINUTES LATER""" they have finally honoured us with the fried rice!!!!yup u read it right 59 mins... 10 minutes later as we are about to go dehydrated our drinks finally arrived... (cheers lol) few minutes later our humble cup of steam rice... As we are about to get up and go , she said sorry it took long time... then our fish came in and WITH JUST ONE BITE HUBBY TURNED RED !!!As I tasted the fish(and let me tell u how much I love love love my chili) it's hot as hell!!! When we called her she said to me and my hubby ,,, SEE I PUT LESS CHILI!!!! Instead of finding a way to fix it she ASKED MY HUSBAND DO U WANT SOME ICE AND went. And when our crab arrived we are quiet impressed even though it's pretty sweet to our likeness. The only problem is that the crab it self is not even cracked properly and served to us without the proper utensil!! I dunno abt you guys but his crab is not worth breaking my jaw and my enamel. Hubby and I decided to call her and asked her to put everything in a Tupperware togo. As we head our way to pay the lady at the cashier said ,,, ohhh sorry we cant do anything about that...they WERE PRE PREP!!! LOL there u go then... what a lovely dinner it was.. If you're thinking of coming here eat at home first and drink before u die from...

(3.5 stars) We could see aromatic spices bobbing in New Kreta Ayer’s beef rendang ($24.90) when it landed. This Singaporean exemplar of my favourite curry was quite saucy, with tender, but not falling apart, beef. It ate well over coconut rice ($4/each) but didn’t quite scratch the dry coconut curry itch. Dipping our roti ($4/each) revealed an unexpected sharpness and a moderate level of heat.

The Ashfield restaurant, decorated for the lunar new year, was full of family groups eating pre-ordered banquets ($1288/8 people) with lobster sashimi and coral trout among the dishes. Ordering is otherwise outsourced to the customer via pencil and pad. BYO is permitted, and if you happen to forget, an excellent independent, Just Liquor is just a couple of minutes walk up Ashfield Road.

We accompanied our rendang with salted egg yolk butter prawns ($41.90) that were cooked with their heads attached and quite tasty as a result. The Kreta Ayer spicy pork rib ($24.90) was a similarly dry combination dressed with garlic, onion and chilli flakes under a hat of shredded carrot. Doing away with order taking also dispense with staff being able to suggest to diners the making of a more balanced meal. This meant it was the beautifully cooked belacan French beans ($19.90) that I appreciated most, for their juicy green beans blistered in chilli and fermented...

Food was not too bad but there’s a huge room for the customer service to improve.

There was no heads up about the unavailable dishes before we ordered. After we put through the first order, the waitress informed that spinach was out of stock, then we ordered garlic beef.

There were other 2 groups of customers arrived the store around the same time as us, one of the groups (group A) submitted the order about 5 mins earlier than us whilst the other one (group B) orders their dishes about 10-15 mins later than us. Also there was a gentleman walked in for ordering take away after we ordered our food.

We were extremely starving when we saw group A had been having all of the dishes they ordered, and even the walk in gentleman already left the restaurant with all his takeaway which looked like there were at least 4-5 dishes based on the size of the plastic bag also group B was having their first dish already but our table still remained empty.

The waitress then come to tell us the garlic was out of stock too, and for sure, there was no apology even 25 mins had been passed since we altered our order.

Would not recommend this to anyone and definitely won’t...

Very demure place for gathering in asian family atmosphere. Tasty, rich flavoure, good services. Tried singaporean chilli prawns, big plate with share-based oriented. Should bring 2-3 people to eat one seafood meal. Served with 6 big prawns, salads and chilli souces.

The waiter had excellent service. He recommended us the scallop special after the lady took our order. Scallop was steamed with a dollop of xo sauce, sprinkled with shallot, tastes quite underwhelming considering the amount of diff colours upon presentation. Was not hot when it came out. The spicy fried calamari was heavy on presentation- also presented quite colourful. The reason for this being underwhelming is it was not hot. Was kinda expecting crispy, freshly fried pieces. They were not even hot. We ordered nasi lemak with chicken however they did not serve coconut rice that night, so had to go with the hainan rice. Hainan rice was dry af, not much flavour to it. The fried chicken was not hot. It was very dark as though densely fried a while ago. Skin was not crispy & was overall dry. Our 4th fish was the Har mee, this was my fav. I liked the noodles however the broth did not resemble the umami saltiness of the prawns. Tasted like a stock broth boiled with some prawn heads. I will come back & give another chance, their crab & other dishes on the menu looks good
