We dined in 17 Oct for dinner in a group of nine. Was so excited about being able to dine-in given Sydney's lockdown ended six days prior. Unfortunately several dishes failed to live up to expectation together with poor customer service. I ordered no. 42 Duck yellow noodle soup and specifically chose for $2 extra to swap for banh canh noodles. When the waitress served the small plate of duck she referred to it as chicken and it was a pale colour instead of the deep rust colour that characterises vegan duck. I did not protest at this point as the conversation at our table had my full attention. Then my bowl of noodle soup arrived and it was clearly yellow noodles instead of banh canh noodles. When I asked the male waiter (who has a sunburst tattoo under his collarbone) about the substitution that I specifically chose, he initially said "I think we may have run out of banh canh noodles, I will check for you". The waiter returned from the kitchen, "we haven't run out, but since we already made the yellow noodles we cannot change it". I was initially speechless and couldn't believe the lack of accountability. The kitchen made the mistake and refused to correct it. I then asked, "what about the extra cost of $2?" he replied "we will refund you". I chose not to continue disputing the error as our whole table was now silent and watching the exchange unfold. I barely ate the yellow noodles as they were dry and not what I wanted in the first place but was forced to accept their error. My friend received her banh canh cua dish and the soup was gluggy and thick, not palatable at all, too much cornflour used. She could barely eat it. Another friend ordered 68. Vietnamese Pancake (Bánh Xeo) with Vegan Prawn + Vegan Ham + Tofu, yet there was NO prawn, ham OR tofu inside the pancake, only copious amounts of beansprouts with a little carrot and mushroom. She also found a live slug on a sprig of mint!! How unsanitary, it proves the kitchen does not clean their raw vegetables before serving to unwitting customers. My husband ordered 54. Salted Soy Fish Fried Rice (Cơm Chiên Cá Mặn) and found the dish to be utterly bland. The only redeeming dishes were 73. Salt and Pepper Squid (Mực Rang Muối) and 31. Royal Noodle Soup (Huế). Most of our group suffered the immediate effects of MSG at the end of our meal, feeling tired and thirsty, the thirst lasting for several hours after getting home (we live 45min away!).
I hope Loving Hut staff read this. Please consider this comprehensive feedback to help improve the standard of service/quality of meals as only two out of nine in our group are actually vegan, and negative experiences such of this do not promote a good opinion of vegan food.
I doubt I will return to this restaurant and will take my business elsewhere, specifically An Nhien which is located on the outside of the Woolworths plaza in Cabra. I used to go here every week before lockdown and they never disappoint, consistently meeting expectations for customer service and meal quality. Considering I dine out only twice a week max, it is disappointing to have had the negative experience that our group had at Loving Hut, if only a refund on calories...
Read moreVery nice food, anything salt and pepper is sooo nice we had squid and a friend I know loves the calamari!
As you can see they were very stingy with the salad portion which I find ironic as this is a vegan restaurant one would think the vegetarian wouldn’t be so skimpy..
The cake was nice too!
We also had taro/sweet potato spring rolls which we did not like at all. Not saying they made it bad just preference.
In my honest opinion as I am a whole food plant based eater, eating junk food vegan will always be a no for me, but I am the type to try new things and experience what restaurants have to offer, and I must say this restaurant was satisfactory and up to par with someone who is vegan.
Also, especially for someone who isn’t vegan but wants to try vegan - this would be an amazing restaurant a plus if they love Asian foods too as the meats taste real, I honestly thought the squid was actually squid 😂
The staff are great and very friendly - they try to push meals on you but I don’t necessarily find that a bad thing because if you’re there to try new things they will know what is good to try so can’t complain on that especially if you don’t know what to buy!
I didn’t catch the servers name but he was great 👍🏻😌
I may come back in a few months as I only eat junk food vegan far from few!
A disheartening concern is the fact they do not display the ingredient list for each dish, which triggered me very much but I had to swallow my pride as this is one every so often I eat out, asp they did not display a receipt of our order, only voiced the final price.
Nevertheless, Thanks for the delicious meal loving hut! ❣️
P.s. thanks for not kicking us out during our dramatised conversations we...
Read moreEver go to a restaurant and think it's closed even though it says it's open? Perhaps it was an odd morning but the restaurant doors were open, it said it was open, the neon lights flashed 'Open', but the shop was unattended with echoing calls into the restaurant fading into the kitchen. Chairs were still on tables so it seemed a little odd.
In any case, the delicious food makes up for the lack of service and we were apologised to by other staff as the restaurant got a little more crowded.
My partner and I shared 3 delectable dishes. With all these plant based options out there that taste like crud, Cabramatta has some fabulous options and this was a pleasant surprise.
We ordered a few dishes starting with the Royal Noodle Soup, which was packed full of flavour and spicebgiving it a nice kick, accompanied by a plethora of vegetables and a few slices of vegan chicken I think which, whilst tasted great, is a tad 'rubbery' in terms of texture.
Salt and pepper tofu was deliciously puffy and had an amazing flavour with (what i think) lemongrass mixed into the salt and pepper. I would definitely order again.
What was surprising was the vegan duck pancake. The duck was crispy and went well with the pickled veggies. The home-made plum sauce really added to the dish giving it a different depth of flavour.
The experience overall was very surprising with all delectable dishes. I would go back and try other dishes from the menu, such as the interestingly looking vegan fish. It kind of reminds me of ...
