My girlfriend and I visited “Mê Bánh Mì” to order two pork rolls. The lady staff member was Vietnamese, so my girlfriend asked her in Vietnamese about the ingredients in the traditional roll. To our surprise, the staff responded in English with a rude and yelling tone. We were shocked and couldn’t understand why.

Later, the staff mentioned that we could choose either a soft drink or water for free. My girlfriend asked me which one I wanted, and I said I didn’t want anything. The staff then yelled at us again, saying, “It’s free!”

After waiting for around 10 minutes, my girlfriend went to pick up the rolls and didn’t mention anything about the water. So, I went to ask where I could get it. The staff responded, “I told you before you can get it by yourself in the fridge.” But the truth is, she never told us that! I was so disappointed and told her that if she kept speaking to me like that, I would report her. Only then did she change her attitude and apologize.

I’ve been living in Australia for 17 years and have never met a Vietnamese person like this. All the Vietnamese people I’ve met have been so nice and friendly. I understand that working in a busy environment can be stressful, but she works in customer service, and we did not deserve to be treated so rudely.

I will also tell my friends not to come here. I hope the owner checks the security camera and listens to her tone of voice!
