We recently had our magical wedding day at Manly Skiff Club and would highly recommend it to any future couples. We hired both the Harbour View Room and Atrium and it was plenty of space for our 45-people wedding. We had room to enjoy our ceremony, reception and a d-floor after hours.
The views and vibes were perfection, and everyone absolutely raved about the food and the venue itself -- we have to agree, it was incredible.
I want to call out Jess, Renee and the events team in particular, as they went above and beyond over the course of more than a year, answering approximately 1.2 billion questions in this time and organising what was described as 'the wedding of the decade' and 'the best wedding I've ever been to' -- words of our guests!
The whole team were lovely and accommodating, working with our guests with dietary needs and providing beautiful meals for them too (not just flicking them a salad and calling it a day like can sometimes be the case).
There is absolutely not one thing I could fault about this venue or our day -- the team works like a finely-tuned machine -- true professionals. As soon as the ceremony was over, the chairs seemed to disappear into thin air and the cocktails started flowing without skipping a beat. Speaking of which, that watermelon marg deserves an award. Oof.
We also attended the club for lunch about 4-5 times before the wedding, and each time everything was wonderful.
Thank you so much for making our wedding unforgettable, and we'll be back whenever we are in Sydney. We have memories to treasure for the rest of our lives and it's thanks to you that we had such a wonderful experience.
Not to mention, for an extremely reasonable price. We wanted to have a beautiful wedding on a budget and Manly Skiff delivered.
Ps. Big ups to Customer Service Manager/Bridal Security Detail Nathan for helping me (the bride) work my way through the busy afternoon crowd unharmed.
I felt like I had a guard of honour on my way in, with other club guests clapping and cheering for me. So. Sweet.
When we get photos of our setup back (it's only been a week) I'll add some...
Read moreWhat a shame. We've been before and enjoyed everything about the food, location and vibe, so decided to take our o/s visitors for lunch on Friday. Being the week between Christmas and NY, it was obviously very busy and we expected a wait for our simple order of 6 x fish & chips - however, the long wait time was not acknowledged by the woman taking our order at the food counter. 50mins later and after watching same woman and her male colleague touch the many plates of food that were steadily piling up on the pass but not do anything with them, and our deep concern that we may be given the several plates of f&c that had been sitting out for more than 20mins, we finally see 6 serves of f&c dished up but again not addressed by the two clowns on our side of the kitchen. I went over and politely asked if they were ours and could I take them (instead of us watch them get cold). I was rudely told to 'wait' by the order taking woman but thankfully one of the floor staff stepped in and handed me our food. The food serving was generous and the fish very tasty but the chips were cold and had clearly been sitting for a while. As we had a clear view of the kitchen and pass, we were disgusted to see the same woman sneeze into her hands several times, whilst talking with her colleagues, and then directly touch plates of food, coffee cups & jugs prior to making coffees and them then going out to customers. She was also taking chips from the plates and eating them and her entire attitude was just so unprofessional. We could also clearly see some of the kitchen staff scrolling phones during service. The man at the counter seemed to be a manager but he was definitely not managing anything that afternoon. I tried to catch the attention of a man who seemed to be higher management but he successfully dodged my waves and I was not about to walk over to him in the middle of the venue whilst my guests looked on. It's a shame that good food and location were completely ruined by unprofessional and inefficient staff. Unfortunately I won't be...
Read moreBe it Boston, New York or anywhere within my worldly wanders, I'd smirk with delight to find a place like the Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club. Just one visit left me reeling, similar to a dang kangaroo stung by love amidst the outback. Feels like home, less marsupials of course.
Strolled through the doors and right away, the joint commanded respect with its compelling nautical ambiance, and a breathtaking panorama of the Manly shores. Real stellar, mate! The nose was greeted with an alluring aroma of sizzling grub and salty sea vibe, irresistible combo if you ask me.
Reluctantly shedding my elite flyer status for a breather, I relished the novelty of their espresso martini on tap. A sensation in and of itself, even with the $18 price tag. Might have struck my wallet on a weak side, but, blimey, did it strike my senses in all the right ways; At this point, consider my snobby palate duly impressed. But the vibe of Skiff Sailing didn't stop there, and why would it?
Edible eloquence followed suit, teasing your appetite with their delectable offerings. Satiated, satisfied and needing only a hammock to round-off the experience, I dared to dream.
For the blemishes, they are but minor and could be overlooked, if not for my unerring reviewer’s eye. Increased crowd during weekends could make your peaceful dinner seem a tad less peaceful and a teeny bit of inconsistency in food portions. Yet, all in all, nothing that could deter the 4-star charm of this place.
So, mates, if ever you find yourself landing your flying kangaroo in the general vicinity of Manly, hoist up your sail and navigate your way to the Manly 16ft Skiff Sailing Club; an antipodean adventure that delivers in...
