I used to come here in the 90s and early 2000s when it was 'Espresso on Dover'. After that establishment closed, this prime corner spot languished for years. However Mea & Ame, which opened 10 weeks ago, has a real shot to turn that around! The menu has a good variety with Aussie classics and South African influences (incl. Borewors and Challah). The food is good and the coffee great value, with the $5 large actually being a large (+ stieva sweetener as an option) and expertly made. Finally, had a nice chat with the owner afterwards, he's a terrific fellow and I wish him and this place every success!

One of my favourite spots in Rose Bay for coffee and brunch is definitely Mea & Ame. The mocha is hands down the best I’ve ever had, rich, smooth and perfectly balanced. The first time I went, I wasn’t expecting much… but I was honestly blown away. The staff are so lovely and welcoming, and the food? They do have more refined options on the menu, but I always go for the basics, because they’re just that well done. It reminds me of grandma’s cooking: simple, comforting, and always good. Since that first visit, I’ve kept coming back. It’s one of those places that just makes you feel at home.

So good to finally have a decent contender for an all day eatery in the area. Espresso On Dover was an institution under Robbie which never recovered after he left. The new rebranded cafe and new owners seem to have struck the right note and it feels welcoming with a decent menu. I hope they do expend the menu with time to show off what they can do but for now I am happy to support them as they are! Thank you for making our birthday breakfasts feel special 👍😘
