Mind you, I’ve only been to this place once. Coffee: average not worth going back again for. Carrot cake: weirdly gummy cake. It was either seriously underbaked or maybe made with gluten free ingredients or no egg. The cake slice has two layers and both were like a thick paste. I really don’t know how they couldn’t tell when they cut the baked cake into layers. Icing pretty good.
So I went in because of the high reviews so I’m puzzled at the sad experience I had. I’m doing a two day speed run of bakeries of Sydney so I ate a few bites of the slice trying to figure out what was wrong and left the rest to leave room in my tummy for better things.

Fair bit of spice heat in the jalapeño but not to the point of unpleasantness or breaking a sweat. It seems to infuse into the cheese as well so the cheese gets a lovely flavour to it.
The sausage roll filling reminded me of the meatball roll filling you’d get from a Banh Mi place in all the best ways; juicy and flavoursome with nice bits of carrot throughout.
It’s only very slightly beaten out by Lode and Bourke Streets offerings at a similar price point, but parking and order time/seat availability are much improved here. Will definitely be coming back to try the Lamb Shepherd pie and the Pork and Fennel...
Read moreWe were in Sydney for the weekend and my partner loved carrot cake. We asked Google for the best carrot cake in Sydney and Miss Lilly's came up as the best option local to where we were.
The carrot cake looked amazing, chai spices through the cake and the cream cheese frosting was to die for. I had the lemon tart and it was delicious. The crust was thin all over so you get to enjoy more mouthfuls of the yummy lemon cream.
