Mister Smoky — Restaurant in Sydney

It's a shame because the guy serving was super sincere and friendly and he wanted feedback. I dont think this is necessarily what he was asking for but I write it in the hopes of improvement cause i think it would be a shame if the business folded.

I got the vegetarian nachos and they were very poor. I knew there was no cheese and it was cheese sauce but I didn't think that would be the centrepiece of the dish.The other ingredients were clearly out of a can, no taste whatsoever except salt (and later, lots of acid reflux) and a very small amount, especially in comparison to the amount of corn chips and cheese sauce.

Considering mister smoky's location, surrounded by restaurants that use fresh produce they should consider getting some fresh ingredients otherwise people will vote with their feet - real cheese, guac, fresh tomato and onion, refried beans and/or black beans. Some chipotle sauce or hotter option would be good too.

(If it was fresh produce, that's actually worse, I don't know how it could taste like salt and acid with fresh...

I’d been meaning to try this place for a while but unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered the brisket tacos (surprisingly no cheese) and the brisket sliders. If you’re expecting slices of slow cooked brisket it’s not that, it’s more like shredded brisket mixed into BBQ sauce, closer to a mince. The fried chicken was heavily seasoned with paprika which overpowered the flavour. The chips had a nice seasoning (a bit like a better version of El Maco fries) but they came out cold. On the positive side the corn was great and the salad was fresh. Maybe the brisket platter or beef ribs platter would be the better picks but based on what we tried the experience was pretty middle of the road. Lastly, the place has zero atmosphere, no music so you can literally hear a pin drop, everyone in there...

I've thought about this for 2 days as I don't like to be unfair. I would probably have given a 1 or 2 star on the night. Choose between heading to Hurricanes for ribs or Mister Smoky. The 4.9 google rating had me uber 15 minutes to Mister Smokey instead of walk to Hurricanes. Got there and ordered the Beef Ribs and pork Nachoes. Service was quick and the food was out quick.

The Beef Ribs were... ONE RIB. Immediately I checked to make sure I read correctly. They told me it was a Grammatical error... when my friend questioned them they again said sorry they were changing the menu to reflect the cost of the Rib.

It was good food, but I truly wished we had just walked to Hurricanes. Instead of discussing there massive costs for ONE RIB. Nothing other than an...
