Absolutely appalling service and substandard food. I attended this establishment as part of a group booking of about 35 people. Initially, we were charged $45 a head. The waitress then came around and said those who wished for the seafood set menu would have to pay an extra $10. Six of us chose this menu and paid. After an extremely lackluster entree of Greek Salad and burnt bread and tasteless dip, we waited 2 and a half hours for the 'main' to come out. A single bowl of seafood was placed on the table, and we were told that each person should get 'one piece of prawn, one piece of calamari, and a piece of fish' (if you can call a small square piece a fish). We couldn't believe it and surely thought a mistake was made. We attempted to talk to the manager who refused to speak to us and the waiter who did was extremely dismissive, rude and unapologetic. On top of that, about 15 minutes after, 2 more bowls of seafood were placed on each table. We were told these were for those who selected the 'meat menu'. Why on earth were six of us charged an extra $10 when seafood was already part of the set menu? My friends and I refused to eat on principle. The friend who did said the seafood was tasteless, soggy and felt ill afterwards. Those who ordered the meat menu also complained as their 'platters' (tiny plates meant to be shared between 6 people') had not come out by 10pm even though we had been there since 7pm. Overall, it was a terrible experience, for overpriced dribble, rude staff and warm tap water. You have no right to be charging your customers $45-$55 for tap water and terrible food. Will never come back and urge others to go elsewhere for quality food at...
Read moreInside the cafe/restaurant the patron has a couple of attractive leather sofa’s, variously sized tables and a couple of bar type stools available for seating. It’s pleasant enough and somebody has a classic sense for decor. The food is pretty good. Consistent too. Quite large servings. Ordinary menu. Standard fare; fish & chips, grilled chicken with salad etc. The outside seating is hot in summer as the whole area is painted black and sits in blazing sunlight across from a servo and right on a fairly busy road, with intersections across and adjacent roads and heavy-ish traffic loads and bus stops metres away. And the waiter/ owner/ namesake is superficially friendly. But the past few times I ate there with a friend who is a regular, Georgina was incredibly rude to my friend who took a second or two longer to choose her order than Georgina it seemed felt she deserved. So my dining companion was distracted and unaware of the eye rolling, condescension and subtle ridicule, so I urged herto make herchoice as clearly the proprietor felt her time was better served attending to something other than her regular customers who pay by cash for meals and tips and are courteous and usedto recommend her business. The last 3-5 visits it has been made clear via subtle incivility and subtle disdain that the owner and waiter has other demands more important than tolerating customers unable to pre-empt her status and...
Read moreTired of great coffee in beautiful surroundings? Sick of the relentless tide of gentrification sweeping good old-fashioned mediocrity aside? Then Georgia’s is for you! The cavernous, black tiled space is inadequately lit by faux-industrial pendants and a couple of floor lamps from Coco Republic’s seconds sale circa 2003. The James Dean and Marilyn Monroe prints in one corner hint at a theme that was briefly considered and then dismissed; like test pot patches not painted over. A hideous lemon yellow leather couch serves as a welcome distraction from the burnt coffee and cloying stench of industrial air freshener. Dine-in babychinos come in plastic lidded takeaway cups with straws, because those pesky sea turtles aren’t going to wipe themselves out. Eftpos minimum is $15, no exceptions. Not having cash on me because, you know, it’s 2018, I was invited to either “buy something else” or cross Illawarra Road to a service...
