I am a South Indian, a big time foodie, a Level 5 local guide on Google and I am a repeat customer here. This is not a paid review. Neelgiri cafe is a small family operated restaurant in Macquarie park. This has to be one of the most underrated South Indian restaurants in Sydney. I get Dosas and idli here. The quality is top notch, the price per plate of breakfast items is under 10$ for idli’s and wada’s, up to 15-16$ for dosas with extras. The extras are must have. You can choose any item on the menu and customise it with extras such as Ghee, Ghee podi, ghee Karam, and the list of extras is mouth watering and they’re cheap. After having more than 5000 photos of food from all kinds of restaurants on my phone, I have not seen another restaurant that offers such customisation in Indian breakfast items. They specialise in catering the spice cravings but they’re equally good with the subtle flavours. Authenticity guaranteed, and I felt like I am eating at a breakfast restaurant in Hyderabad, a city in south India. The ambience is great and service is warm and welcoming. The food has always been delicious and it’s only getting better. They also have lunch specials every day. They do catering orders too. I recommend this place over other Indian takeaway kitchens or Indian restaurants in Epping and surroundings.

Finding good Indian food in Sydney is tough, but this newly opened South Indian restaurant is a real gem! We've tried their Chaat, Dosas, Uttappam, drinks, etc. Almost everything has been outstanding; the only item that didn't quite hit the mark was their Pav bhaji, but honestly, with everything else being so exceptional, it's barely worth mentioning. Their dosas are phenomenal! We always end up ordering the Chef's Special Dosa with their perfectly spiced sambar and fresh chutneys. The authenticity really shines through in every bite. Definitely dine in for the best experience - the food is served fresh and hot. If you're craving authentic South Indian cuisine in Sydney, this place is filling a much-needed gap perfectly! 🫶 ✨️ My strongest recommendation: dine in for the full experience. The food is served fresh and hot, and you get to enjoy the wonderful aromas and atmosphere that enhance the meal.

The food was disappointing and the most unauthentic. I went there when it just opened and they looked very disinterested. The vada was dense and pasty from inside, very unpalatable. When I brought it up the owner, he’s like we’re taking feedback from customers and trying to improve! So basically they’re using the customers to experiment with their recipes which is pathetic. How about doing some research on recipes and perfecting them before you open a restaurant?! Even the tea was grainy and chutney was curdled. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone unless they pull their act together.

🌿 A Hidden Gem for Vegetarian Food Lovers – Neelgiri Café Review 🌿

Neelgiri Café is a true delight for anyone seeking fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared vegetarian cuisine.

The menu is a celebration of regional Indian vegetarian dishes, (not many such places are even here in Sydney), crafted with care and bursting with authentic flavors. Each dish we tried was a standout & and an homage to Indian-ness!! The use of fresh herbs, right spice blends, and high-quality ingredients is evident in every bite.

What truly elevates Neelgiri Café is the service. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They’re happy to explain dishes, suggest pairings, and accommodate dietary preferences, making everyone feel welcome.

Whether you're a dedicated vegetarian or just looking to explore plant-based dining, Neelgiri Café is a must-visit. It's rare to find a place where tradition meets creativity so seamlessly. Highly...
