A trip to Niji Sushi Bar was high on the agenda this week after a recommendation from @eatsydd 😆
We dined at the newly opened site in Hurstville, however they also have a sister location in Kingsford. Named after the Japanese word for rainbow, Niji Sushi Bar presents a colourful, contemporary take on Japanese cuisine.
We opted to dine at the sushi train bar and ordered a selection form the Al a carte menu
The sushi train options where pretty standard accross the board, no real highlights but a good selection and well stocked
The a la cart menu was the real hero of the night 🍣 Age-Dashi Tofu, strong flavours in the ten-tsuyu broth that complimented the silky tofu 🍣 Miso Cream Scallops: the richness of shiitake mushroom overpowered the scallops & they where a little over cooked, but the shiitake by itself in the miso cream sauce & truffle oil was amazing 🍣 Pork Bun: the sauces overpowered any flavours in the pork unfortunately 🍣 Wagyu Kushiyaki: dish of the night! Perfectly cooked wagyu beef skewers glazed with ama-yaki sauce…. Perfection
⭐️RATING⭐️ 5.5/10 Breakdown: ▫️Taste: 1/2, unfortunately the sushi train brought down this score, I feel could have been much higher if we had of just ordered off the menu ▫️Presentation 1/2, nothing special, but not terrible ▫️Value for money 1/2, fairly standard for sushi train pricing. Well priced cocktails ▫️Service 1/2, very quick and efficient however the staff where quite unknowledgeable ▫️Restraunt vibe 1/2, again, nothing fancy, but quite well laid out and guests where well spread out around the sushi train *extra .5 point awarded for the sheer fullness of the sushi train at all times, the chefs where on point in keeping a well stocked...

This place has the biggest sushi train that I ever see. Love the way they make their sushi train and opened kitchen so you can see how fascinating the way they make your sushi. Not only that the price start from 4.5$ per plate.
They have modern contemporary dishes such as ravioli prawn, corn ribs and many alcohol menu to drink. They also served Japanese tapas that you can enjoy if you don’t really want to eat mains. Their menu really unique and creative.

Read moreBy far the most disappointing place I've been to lately. I used to love this place but recently the quality and service is appalling. I order from Uber eats and it takes ages, I called the uber driver and he said he arrived at the restaurant but they still weren't ready and gave my food to someone else. This happens so often. Then I decided to come here for dinner to my family and was served by a girl that I think shouldn't even be hired in the first place. When we arrive she takes ages to take our order and upon coming up to us she says she wants to serve another family first even though we were first and had been waiting for ages. I asked her questions about the menu and she got it all wrong. We then ordered our food and I made her repeat it back to us and then I waited over an hour whilst my family ate. I called over another waiter and he said that it turns out she repeated our order but didn't even put my meal in. My relative told me this exact same white girl with brown hair had served her before and she had treated many people the same way. I don't want to berate her because I don't know if she has special needs or has other issues going on...but what exactly is the restaurant doing? You are serving heaps of customers everyday and it's busy all the time...at least put some effort to train your workers or have her do some other task than get every single person's order wrong. The food was also bland and subpar, don't order anything other than sushi. There's bok choi and beansprouts in their...
