Common Ground Coffee & Kitchen Hurstville — Restaurant in Sydney

I don't normally post reviews for places but I am so upset about the service I received and no care from the staff I need to say sometime. My friend and I came into the cafe at 12.40 on a Saturday, it was busy but, we got a table order and paid within 5mins. My friends food and drink arrived in less then 10mins, and as I didn't want her food to get cold, I told her to go ahead and start. About 10-15mins later my friend was about to finish her food and half way through her drink, i had been looking around and trying to catch a staff eye to find out where my food was. I then when up to the counter to quietly inquiry what had happened to my food. With no apologies, the server when upto the kitchen window, looked at the order and asked the kitchen staff. She then held up 1 finger and said it would be 1min, again no apologies for the wait. 6mins past and I watched 3 meals come out of the kitchen, and my friend had now finished all her food and drink. I was able to ask for a refund when my food finally arrive, with the server I had asked about where my food was. She placed it down, with no apologies about the delay when I in annoyance muttered 'about time' , the server very quickly said the kitchen was busy. When I questioned that it would be nice to have had the food at the same time, she finally muttered the word sorry and again said it was busy. I have been a loyal customer of this café for many years, and it continues to exceed my expectations. The moment I step inside, I am greeted by a friendly and familiar staff who make me feel right at home. The café has a comfortable and inviting ambiance, with cozy seating and a relaxed atmosphere that is perfect for unwinding. The baristas are skilled professionals, consistently serving up top-notch coffee and beverages that never disappoint. Their attention to detail and consistency are commendable. The menu is diverse and offers a range of delicious options, from delectable breakfast and all day options to satisfying lunch items and flavourful desserts. What sets this café apart is the exceptional quality of their food and beverages, combined with the impeccable service and welcoming environment. All staff greet you by name and always unfaltering in careful attention to your requests. It's no wonder I keep coming back year after year, well frequently within each week. 😀

Saw google review about this cafe being very Instagramable because of their platings. Decided to give it a try to see how it goes.

Environment 5/5 Not a huge cafe but sufficient seats, don’t have to wait at all when we arrived as there’s patrons leaving. Nice design of the cafe.

Service 5/5 Staff is attentive, she asked if we are having here or take away when we arrived and brought us to our seat. Within seconds another staff came over to clean the table for us and share us the menu.

Ice latte/ ice long black/ cap I think they have one of the best coffee bean in town. The aroma and flavour are just perfect if you’re looking for something not too strong.

Prawn linguine 5/5 One of the best I had so far. And yes their plating is very nice and Instagramable. Like they also have tiny diced lamb in there that brought that taste more savoury. We top up with the garlic bread at $5. But the garlic bread is just so-so, not much garlic taste, more like a butter toast to me.

Tacos 5/5 The tacos was a surprise to me. Rarely I will order tacos at such a cafe other than Mexican restaurant, but I think the meat they had really made the tacos stood out.

Will I come back again? 5/5 Yes for sure, I actually make this in my favourite already.
