It was my birthday night. My three friends and I would celebrate my birthday. I was supposed to be peaceful and happy to be with the ones I be loved. We made a book in 17:30 at Nikaido Burwood. Once we sat down, the manager told us that we must leave at 19:15. During our meal, he reminded us over and over again. Actually, there was a timer on a pad and we could check the time by ourselves. However, the store manager kept disrupting us and requested us to leave on time. We had a rush to finish our meal with disappointed mood and even did not have time to have my fabulous birthday cake made by my lovely friends. I used to be a loyal customer who had high expectations of Nikaido deal to high quality and services of the store at Naikaido Neutral bay. It was a shame to have a terrible experience in the new Nikaido Burwood. I will definitely not suggest any I know to visit Nikaido Burwood.

I thought there was a timer on pad which could remind us for last order that what we usually did in Nikaido Neutral bay. Before I went to Nikaido Burwood, I checked website for time limitation for 4 adults but there was no notification regarding the time limitation. Meanwhile there was neither last order reminding on pad nor anyone asked for last order, at the same time, the staff kept sending food including meat and desert. When you told us that we had last ten minutes, we still have at least four plates of meat and coming desert. That’s why I said we had a rush to finish the meal. My friends and I left the restaurant once we finished eating all food because we did not think we could waste food somehow. We had a chat out of the restaurant after finishing the meal. It was not the first time to spend a lovely weekend night at Nikaido, but it would be the worst experience ever at Nikaido. My friends and I missed Nikaido Neutral Bay and its manager and its staffs. Highly recommend customers to visit the wonderful Japanese BBQ restaurant at Nikaido...
Read moreWe went as a group of 6 and decided to go with the Premium Buffet option from the 'All You Can Eat Menu'. You get 90 minutes to eat per sitting / booking and the service was relatively fast with super friendly staff.
The 'Special Wagyu' cuts which we ordered as part of the Premium Buffet were fresh and tasty and come in a variety of marinades (or none at all for those who want that experience). The sashimi (pictured) which we also ordered was super fresh and presented nice and neatly. Some points of clarification and feedback though: -Replacement of the mesh for cooking the meat is $1 each which wasn't really spelled out at the beginning - if we're paying $69.80 per person this should probably be included as part of the package; -When you order 1, 2, 3+ servings, it was sometimes inconsistent and so we weren't sure how this was calculated after placing the order on the iPad at the eating station - this resulted in us just putting in repeat orders over and over again with varying numbers to keep the meat coming in; -'All Dessert' - we were under the assumption that we could order a mixture of all ice creams (vanilla, green tea and black sesame), shiratama anmitsu, panna cotta and coffee jelly as part of the package, but it turns out we were limited to 2 items only. In addition, we also thought the Mont Blanc desserts (also pictured) were part of the package but they weren't. We ended up talking to staff and the manager who were willing to cancel these items but given that the desserts already came, we decided to leave the order in - for future reference, it's probably better to make it clear or remove the items from the iPad buffet menu ordering screen to avoid any confusion.
Overall, still an enjoyable experience but if the above items are addressed, I'd probably be happy to crank the review up to 5 stars. Kudos to the manager for his friendly attitude and staff for working their behinds off in cleaning tables and moving around non-stop to keep...
Read moreMy partner and I had high expectations for this place but we were highly disappointed. We ordered the "premium" buffet which was $70 per person. The meat comes out frozen and even a little freezer burnt. Cooking meat straight out of the freezer tastes horrible. It was very chewy and unappealing. The portion sizes are tiny and you can only order the same thing every 15mins depending on the amount of people you are dining with, so, for example, if you go there as a couple and you order the wagyu beef skirt, you can only order it twice, then you have to wait 15mins until you can order it again. This is terrible for people that have dietary restrictions. We don't eat chicken or pork, so we were limited to the amount we could order. We basically had to fill up on sides because we had to keep waiting 15mins to order the beef dishes. Another kicker was that you are given a 90minute booking, but you can only order food in the first 60mins. Once you hit the 60min mark, you are unable to order anymore! We were hoping the saving grace would be the dessert - because how could you get icecream wrong? Turns out you can get icecream wrong! It came out ROCK solid and freezer burnt. They place the scoops of icecream IN the bowl together in the freezer, so the bowl was completely frozen and the icecream was freezer burnt and rock hard! Had to wait for ages to eat it. Maybe that's why they don't let you order in the last 30mins because it takes 30mins for the icecream to defrost and be edible hahaha. I've attached a video to show how hard the icecream was. I'd never seen anything like it before in my life! It's a shame this place wasn't good. It seemed like it would have had great potential. The owner seemed lovely but the serving staff were quite rude. It was hard to wave them down. There are so many better Yakiniku/BBQ places that are the same price and are actually all you can eat and don't serve you...
