Royal Treasure Emerald Square Burwood
1st things first - Get there either just before they open otherwise definitely before 11 a.m. on a Saturday.
From 11.30a.m. it gets very busy so expect to wait outside.
Just 2 of us having yum cha. We arrived at 11.20am and waited about 20 minutes before being called in to be seated
The staff were great and each have their own job to do so dont expect every staff member to assist or help with anything other then their assigned roles.
Ie. Sauce, drinks etc then ask thise wearing white shirts.
Trolleys will only serve food. You ask for chilli sauce dont expect anything.
All black outfit and no trolly are only cleaning and resetting so dont expect any acknowledgement or eye contact.
Excellent yum-cha tastes freshly made and with quality ingredients, good choice and great service. Extremely popular with the locals so our 20 minute from 11.20am was expected for the 2 of us. Still for us worth the wait.
The yum cha is excellent, delicious, fresh and plentiful.
The service was efficient but void of any personality and to be fair we didn't expect anything other then fresh hot food to be delivered consistently.
The room was packed and staff always working and moving. The restaurant is upstairs in Emerald Square with parking underneath the building with access from Wynne Avenue, Burwood.
I wiukd say this has to be one of the best Yum Cha restaurants in Sydney with offered range of dim sum.
Turnover is quick considering there are loads of tables and chairs that can chop and change to cater for various group sizes.
Baby chairs are available should you need.
If you have a large group I would strongly recommend getting there before they open otherwise you could be waiting a while.
Overall we can't fault the rage on offer and the quality of the yum cha dishes.
Highly recommended.
Yum Cha card says to "pay at the table" Note that you get up and take the card to the register to pay they do not take payment at your table.
DIM SIM - LARGE $9.50 DIM SIM - SPECIAL $9.80 DIM SIM - X SPECIAL $10.20 TEA - $2.00 per person

Read moreI had a concerning experience in the B3 parking area at Burwood Emerald Square. The situation happened around 6:10pm last night. A grey Hyundai sedan drove the wrong way down the lane at speed, turned without indicator, apparently trying to quickly take a parking spot, and almost hit the man holding the toddler. When the man had to shout out to the driver telling her it’s wrong way and she need to back off, the driver only pointed to the empty parking space next to her meaning she wanted to park here. Such a reckless behaviour!!
When the issue was pointed out, the driver didn’t acknowledge the mistake or offer any apology. After parked, one of the passengers then got out of the car trying to argue, showing no awareness of how dangerous the situation was.
I’m sharing this to raise awareness, especially for families with young children. I hope the Manager of Emerald Square would consider improving signage (even there is one sitting in front where the driver is about to turn) or taking further steps to enhance safety in the car park. Of course, I was also wondering if it’s too easy for people to get a licence in NSW...
Read moreEmerald Square in Burwood is a small but convenient shopping complex that offers a few essential stores such as a supermarket, pharmacy, and a few restaurants. However, it's definitely not the most exciting or diverse shopping center around.
The supermarket, although small, offers a decent selection of groceries and fresh produce. The pharmacy is also quite convenient and has a friendly staff. However, there isn't much else to do or see in the complex, and the other stores seem to be perpetually changing.
Parking can also be a bit of a hassle at Emerald Square, as there are limited spots available and it can get quite crowded during peak times.
Overall, while it's a convenient option for locals in the area who just need to pick up a few essentials, there's not much else to recommend about Emerald...
