My love affair with Nutie began with my marriage. I'm not even kidding; instead of a wedding cake, my mother-in-law ordered a stack of the most delectable, gluten free donuts that oozed decadence and class. We had initially insisted on forgoing a wedding cake, because I found them to be a disappointment, and it wasn't an expense we cared for...but thank goodness my mother-in-law surprised us, because it was love at first sight. Now look, like all great love affairs, it isn't a long-term every-day thing. I have aforementioned husband for that. But, a few times a year when a certain need is not being met...we book ourselves a weekend in Sydney and indulge. Boy do we indulge. I can't pick a favourite; it would be easier to pick a favourite between my dogs and children than it is a Nutie dessert. Is it the gluten free wagon wheels, that are SO GOOD, they take me back to a time before my digestive system betrayed me and I was able to ingest the regular ones... Or is it the cookies, that are the perfect combination or soft and crunchy? Filling, but not sickeningly sweet? It's a hard combo to nail, but Nutie does it every time. Or is it the OG, the GOAT that began this sordid affair...the donuts, of which there are so many options, I could literally eat a different one every day for a couple of weeks and be satisfied? Is it the seasonal spreads, that reflect the dedication, creativity and care of the bakers at Nutie? These people love what they do, because you cannot taste hate in these products. They are no mere bakers...they are artists, and Nutie is simply their platform to orchestrate masterpieces. But I digress. Do yourself a favour, and try it. Just do it. Because, you only live once, and why deny yourself the pleasure of something that will delight your tastebuds, that will have you see Paradise, if only for a few bites...and leave you absolutely...
Read moreI ordered a vegan Strawberries and Cream cake for my birthday a week in advance and was really looking forward to it. When I came to pick it up, it took a little while for them to prepare the cake - apparently they still needed to frost it and to add the writing on top. That was fine, I don’t mind waiting. But, when they handed the cake over, it was in a cake box that was too small for it. The lid was propped partially open and the opening covered with cling wrap. As I was driving home, the top two layers slid around off the third layer and we had to try and put it back together later. This all could have been forgiven except, when my family and I ate the cake later that night, the sponge layers were very dry. The cream and jam layers were delicious, but the sponge was just so dry. I never received an email confirming that my order was ready and, when ordering the cake, you can only select a date for pickup and not a time. I’m not sure if this is how this cake is meant to be or if my order was hastily put together, but I was left pretty...
Read moreVisited in the afternoon (around 1pm) and most of the savoury items were sold out, just one vegan “steak” pie left. The pie itself was full of flavour but I wouldn’t consider it steak-like. The vegan passion fruit cheesecake was delicious though. I didn’t try anything else, but my partner tried the vegan pain au chocolat (gluten free) and reported that it was a bit undercooked and did not taste good. There were a few other vegan and gluten free options (see pictures of donuts). I’m not in a hurry to try this place again. There are some seats outside, I didn’t see any...
