Another good experience visiting Food well priced considering the HUGE portions Friendly staff, not fake engagement, just engaging and chatty as required Restaurant was about 70% capacity (rainy night), food furfillment time could be a little quicker but some earlier meal groups had a much faster delivery time, so I may be being overly picky Good variety of steaks both in price and proportion size. All steaks ordered came with a generous serving of chips, none of the different meals were less than large to huge proportions Lots of seating arrangements, from 4 setting square tables, to 4 seater semi cubical, to longer tables with between 8 - 12 seaters (can join tables to make bigger groups if required I assume) We booked ahead, take was ready, labeled and nothing more required than to sit down and order Ordering can be done electronically or going up to the order section (I suspect they prefer at the table electronic ordering) The electronic ordering was simple with ample options (chips and vegetables was possible with a steak order, normally this option in other places gets you a strange look from the usual chips and salad) Windy wet cold night outside but the place was still warm and void of drafts and throughput wind you can sometimes get in some places that are larger venued

There are so many fans outside yet they operate the turbo blasting ones, and all at once!! It gets so stuffy in the enclosed back area yet they cannot use the ceiling fans and operate them individually to suit all customers. They will not allow the blinds to be open due to the outside "smoking area" - I thought the smoking area had to be 4 metres from an open doorway legally?!?! It is not!
Would it kill the staff to smile sometimes? I know it gets busy and noisy but it is your job! If you don't like hospitality, resign. We asked for someone for a cloth to clean the table and his response was "no!". We all looked at each other, dumbfounded. Did he just say that?
The food is slowly declining - things like atlantic salmon are great but becoming too RSL-like with all the deep fried foods and chips, etc. I am willing to pay extra for salmon but for pub food, pretty expensive particularly when half the plate is chips.
I have been a customer at this pub over many years and am sad to say, I think my time has come to an end. More interested in money than customers now. Good luck with...

It's a fairly dark theme but tasteful. The big main area is now carpeted which makes the acoustics so much better and has brought down the whole volume needed to converse with others
There are more tables now as they utilise the space more. I believe there are more smaller tables of 4 and not quite so many long bench type tables made up
Wood paneling on the walls with slight groves also help with sound reverb dampening
Food is still generous proportions and service friendly
Another good improvement is they have removed the old plastic rolldown walls and replaced them with proper glass walls, this improves the warmth of the place (along with the carpet) and also stops the outside courtyard and road noise
