SALT & JAM — Restaurant in Sydney

Had a fairly bizarre experience here last weekend. Submitted my order and then went to the counter indoors to ask for the vegetarian plate to have a hard poached egg. I was told that they could not make make the yolk fully cooked as the poached eggs were cooked in advance, but I could have a fried egg with no runny yolk. I said I would be happy with a fried egg. After a fairly long wait for food, my plate came out with two extremely runny poached eggs on it and the waitress said “sorry they’re runny hope that’s okay” as she put it down. The eggs had both runny yolk and egg white on the inside and I ended up having to avoid eating the eggs altogether which felt like a big waste of food and money. I’m a bit disappointed and confused by this experience, as I have had nice meals here...

SHAME on this business and the owner for kicking me off a table that seats four people. There is NO ONE else at the cafe. So many other seats available. A woman next to me is also sitting a a four top table by herself, why didn’t you tell her to get up and leave too? Such racist owners!! I “overstayed my welcome” because I sat working for an hour on my laptop? Are you kidding? I’m a paying customer it doesn’t matter how long I stay! I’m spreading the world on this cafe. Extremely terrible attitude and business practices. SHAME on the worker with the glasses! Ignorant and extremely racist. I will be reporting this cafe to Australian consumer...

Absolutely lovely experience in all matters at this little gem in Crows Nest. My daughter and I had just arrived from North Qld after a 6h flight journey and were starving, just to find out the kitchen had just closed. Mr. Sam said “ wait, I will check with the chef”, and returned with a big smile saying we could order! The delicious chicken burger and buddha bowl were fresh, tasty and delicious. I love cafes that don’t stick to the obvious smash avo and bacon n egg roll BUT if that is your vibe they have that on the menu too.
