Have finally calmed down enought to write this review. Am sure this place has only got 4 stars because the staff put on fake reviews during their downtimes.
I Naievly choose this place as was utterly starving and as they weren't looking all that busy - I stoopidly thought this place would be a nice treat and sort the pangs of hunger out.
Why else do such places exist... right?)
Anyway..... WASN'T I WRONG !!!
So I went to G-y-G last weekend and handed over a $20 note for an imported Manadarine soft drink and a beef burrito (including cashier's suggested upsell of avocado and sour cream) and got $1 change, sat down in the seating area, eagerly awaiting the food I'd just paid for. I'm 6'3" - so fail to see how they'd miss seeing me sitting there, slowly growing more and more annoyed with an empty table in front of me.
Long story short, no burrito after a complete eternity - easily more than 45 minutes waiting (had to take a loo break, was waiting so long).
So, after mentioning that I was waiting for 1 x burrito to surly waitress (who appeared more interested in her cell phone than anything else) ended up in a massive argument over table numbering system and walked away....as I wanted food - not an argument !!
Waitress spoke to me like some vagrant con-man trying to scam her illustrious establishment into giving me free food.... or at least, that's how it felt.
Aparently not having a table number gave her this right....
Left this dump of a place feeling hungry and humiliated and of course $19 lighter. Staying to argue would've just increased my humiliation and so I walked away.
I note from earlier reviews, this is not the first time this sort of thing has happened at G-y-G in Crows Nest and at nearly $20 for burrito + drink, you'd expect better. A lot better.
Won't be back and frankly, in Crows Nest, there is such a terrific selection of independant cafes - who I am sure would probably appreciate your custom and money a lot more than these clowns.
To the waitress concerned : Learn some manners and learn to let the other person speak. Save your rants and hissy fits for your boyfriend or husband. If you were a bloke, I'd have dropped you like a sack of potatoes for humiliating me like that in public.
So, finally to the management of this place, You guys got $19 out of me for a non-existant burrito....and that's all your ever going to get !
Even Micky Dee's is a step up from...
Read moreUpdate: we went again last night 5/10/24 and I ordered pulled pork and my husband pulled beef. Mine was slightly warm but only just. The pulled pork was in chunks, not pulled like before. The rice was just warm too and had little chunks in it as well. This place has really gone downhill since its renovation. ** I am going to alrt the head office as it was really enjoyable before. They have one little heater oven to melt the cheese or whatever they use it for and its way above the heads of all the staff. One girl had to be so careful at arms reach to get the food out. It's strange they did that. All the other staff were shorter than her so it makes it difficult. Maybe there is an oven on the other side, hope so, because more than 1 is needed and a longer or warmer time setting is needed.
We ordered 2 burrito bowls which were just warm. I was a bit disappointed in its display and how much was in it, for the large we paid. I then saw two other people, including an employee and they were given about 30percent more than what we had plus we had a few measly nacho chips thrown in (compared to others). Also, we were not asked if we were takeaway or dine in. We had decided to dine in but were called up to collect. I haven't eaten here since it reopened after its makeover and I was a bit disappointed, although the food is great. Please train your young staff to...
Read moreI ordered a Veggie Burrito at around 8 pm on Wed 19th June. The main ingredient of the veggie burrito is guac with sauteed veggies which was missing again (I have complained previously because the staff never includes the correct items). I also added sour cream and other additional ingredients which were not added. My burrito consisted of wrap, rice, beans and lettuce. Very dry! So disappointed! I already left a poor review a long time ago and it still keeps happening! Please make sure all your staff know to put guac in a veggie burrito as this is what we pay for. Very disappointed.
Add on 22nd June. Gave it another try after complaining on Uber and Gummen Y Gomez website. Again, they sent the veggie burrito without the guac and veggies (which is the main ingredient in the veggie burrito). As usual, my add on's like sour cream were missing also.
I do not think the staff know what goes in the Veggie burrito or they have been asked not to add guac and sour cream to save money. This is approx the 6th time they have not brought me my...
