To anyone considering going to this restaurant.
The owner is abrupt and thinks that his food is the best in the world.
I am ashamed to have gone here as a Greek person and the owner should be embarrassed by the food he serves and calls himself greek. I was a walk in customer with no booking.
I decided not to get anything from the grill after looking at the owner he is in his phone while cooking and not watching the grill half the time, the food looked over cooked and there is all different types of meats on top of each other which is quite unhygienic.
I ordered a moussaka, a Greek salad, saganaki prawns and the slow cooked lamb. The salad and saganaki prawns were edible, the moussaka was like chewing on cardboard and was burnt on the top as of it were put straight from a freezer into the oven. The lamb was soft but had water pouring out of it and the skin on top was like jelly, it was also semi cold in the centre again signs of being frozen only this time cooked in a microwave… not really slow cooked.
As a Greek, Greek food is not hard to make but preparation is long. This restaurant needs to seriously check the way they do things and maybe get someone to teach them how to cook properly. The Balkan which was this restaurant before was much better than this which is embarrassing as Greeks should be better at cooking this cuisine.
I am honestly embarrassed to have come here and have felt sick for the last day from the food.
The owner can’t even accept this criticism as you can see from many other reviews and would rather criticise these people than try and fix his issues.
I hope he makes some serious changes otherwise I hope the business closes down or someone with more of a...
Read moreTHE RESTAURANT As a 16 year old I am very hesitant about trying new things but the experience at Santorini on Oxford Street has left me puzzled on how I could eat so much amazing food in a short period of time. You can see and taste that the food is made with care and passion. The service is very nice with kind people serving you and the owner is a wonderful perosn. The restaurant gives off an amazing Greek vibe making you submerged in their culture making the whole experience even better. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for an amazing feed around oxford street. -:able to bring your own drinks:-
ENTRE For the start the warm tortila bread was very delicious and flavourable, the addition of the dips will make you think outside of your mind and enjoy the delicate yet so colourful taste of this entre...
I would recommend trying the octopi that they serve. As this was my first time trying this dish, I was very hesitant about it. When I had built up the courage to try it I was amazed by the softness and tastefulness of the calamari meat that was made on an open fire, making me a big fan of it straight away...
DINNER For dinner I have ordered chicken souvlaki which came with two skewers of delicious chicken tenders and cabbage on the side. When I tried the chicken I was hit with the aroma of all the spices that were used in the marinate the addition of the cabbage and charcoal fire had made an excellent recipe for a delicious meal.
In conclusion I have left the restaurant satisfied with the quality of food and service, friendly staff and a great feed. Best Greek feed in town. Would recommend to anyone who is compentant enough to...
Read moreUnfortunately I can’t review the food at Santorini restaurant as I didn’t get to eat there and am unlikely to do so in the future. We had made a booking for 4 at 7:30 PM last Friday evening. As has been usual when visiting this strip of Oxford Street restaurants over the years, we grabbed a bottle of wine at the bottle shop and headed to Santorini. When we arrived, we were verbally attacked by the proprietor who castigated us for bringing the bottle of wine. He shouted at my partner in front of other patrons, both seated near by and waiting in line for a table, “you can’t bring that (wine) in here!”. My partner was, like us all, taken a back with the guy’s attitude. The abuse continued as our “host” ushered us to the rear of the restaurant vindicating us for the apparent crime of bringing a bottle of wine. We got that he is licenced, but he could have, like any other civilised place, offered to put the bottle of wine in the fridge and we could collect it on our way out. He ridiculed us, so much so, that we felt so uncomfortable we decided to leave. It is such a shame that on an otherwise friendly and inclusive restaurant precinct this proprietor chooses to behave this way. We went a few doors away and were greeted hospitably with our bottle of wine at another restaurant and had a...
