The star is for the lime milkshake I had which was exceptionally good flavour wise but that's where it ended. After hiking for 3hrs, my partner and I were looking for somewhere decent to eat and chose here based on their varied menu, didn't we make a mistake. I ordered the Pulled Pork Roll and my partner ordered the Meatlovers style pizza. His pizza was brought out ahead of my roll and according to him, wasn't the greatest. It also didn't help that when he went to pick up a piece, the topping slid off.. every time. My pulled pork roll: The pulled pork was excellent, flavour amazing and not dried out. But it was underwhelming as they put it on a crappy mainstream burger bun (which was a little soggy on the bottom, I suspect they nuked it) and used pre-made mass produced coleslaw (you know the stuff that's shredded into small pieces and drowning in cheap dressing). It was a desecration of what could have been something utterly amazing if the right bread and accompaniments had been used. They could have used a nice ciabatta or turkish roll with a homemade coleslaw dressed with aioli. This place has so much potential but as others have pointed out, it's severely let down by the people who own/manage it and their staff. The place also needs a facelift, it's outdated. The woman with shoulder length blonde hair really didn't make the place feel welcoming, didn't smile and her negative demeanor reflected in other ways. Attention to detail is pretty much non existent. We both ordered drinks (coke and milkshake), I specifically requested no plastic straw which another waitress noted down on the order (this waitress was nice, but she seemed suppressed and quiet, perhaps a reflection of the negative vibe from her colleagues?). Both drinks came out delivered by the blonde woman with plastic straws. It's an automatic habit by cafes etc to put a straw in people's drinks, even drinks for guys. Clearly no one reads an order slip properly. So you are probably wondering why I am complaining about a straw? When you are in one of the most beautiful places in Australia which has a high tourism footprint and the Blue Mountains National Park is a World Heritage area, single use plastic should be banned. Especially when so many places across Sydney and the world are moving away from single use plastic due to its impact on our natural world.
Unless someone takes over and fixes the place up, avoid it like the plague. My partner and I lamented that we should have just gone to the pizza and pide place a...
Read moreHonest review. This place is in such a great location. It has friendly staff who genuinely want to look after their customers. The big glass windows allow in lots of light and keep you up to date on the happenings of this little patch of Katoomba high street it calls home.
On the other hand, the food appears to be sourced from the cheapest quality ingredients. Looking at the menu there didn't appear to be anything that stood out, and said "this is who we are!". The smoothly I had absoulety killed the atmosphere as it was being made by the sound of the blender working away crushing the ice, sorry everyone! (it was delicous though!) The appearance at first appeared inviting, but after having sat down I realised this place probably hadn't been restyled since it opened. The music came from a little speaker and that sucked too. I think it was the radio that was playing.
This place needs to a picks theme and own it. Cut its menu down and sort out the noise of the kitchen. Update its style and get some indoor plants for a nice environment. The yellow deli down the road, although Cult owned, is nailing what it means to run a busy Cafe / restaurant!. People come to the blue mountains to see something different. Be different! Be...
Read moreOut of area customers, and unfortunately even though we had a lovely server we were really let down by our experience today. The last plate of food to come out had a fault and was returned to the kitchen, however other tables meals keep rolling out, which is great, but the wait for our last meal was tediously long, bordering on us cancelling the food and leaving as the group had finished. We were told that we would not need to pay for the delayed meal, which was lovely. Upon paying for the final bill, the original server had left and the new one was not aware of what was said, they did honor the original servers remark, which was appreciated. We were honest though when we were asked how we enjoyed our meal. We didn't. No futher communication was had and we left. The pizza was enjoyed, but the other six meals were quite disappointing, and tasted of recently opened jar sauce and I was going to leave a higher review until I saw the pictures on display in my google search just now, if I saw the Nachos pictures online before I ordered and got what was served to me today I most likely would have left. I'm glad we could support hospitality in such a trying time but this was unfortunately the lowest point of our groups...
