Recently, I had a very disappointing dining experience at a hotpot buffet restaurant in Sydney. The quality of the food was unacceptable, and to make matters worse, the restaurant had raised its prices without any improvement in service.
Stale Ingredients, Poor Food Safety
As a buffet-style hotpot restaurant, fresh ingredients are essential. However, during my visit, I noticed several issues: • The crab sticks had a strong fishy smell, indicating possible improper storage or low-quality ingredients. • Vegetables were wilted, and some even had signs of rot, making them unappetizing and potentially unsafe.
The freshness of ingredients is not just about taste—it is a food safety issue. If the restaurant continues to use stale or poorly stored ingredients, customers could suffer from food poisoning or other health problems.
2.Price Increase Without Quality Improvement
In addition to the disappointing food quality, the restaurant has increased its prices but has not improved its offerings or service: • Ingredient quality has declined, and portion sizes seem smaller than before.
Price increases are understandable if they are accompanied by better quality or service. However, simply raising prices while lowering standards is unfair to customers.
Request for Improvement & Official Inspection
As a customer, I expect to receive fresh and safe food for a reasonable price. This restaurant, however, has failed to meet these basic expectations.
I urge the restaurant to: Ensure the freshness and safety of all ingredients to prevent health risks for customers. Make reasonable price adjustments while improving service and food quality. Follow food safety regulations.
If these issues persist, I will consider reporting this restaurant to the NSW Food Authority, Fair Trading NSW, or other relevant consumer protection agencies. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements, rather than prioritizing profit over customer...
Read moreDear Soup Zen Management,
We have been loyal customers of Soup Zen for some time and have always enjoyed the excellent service from your staff. However, we feel it’s important to provide feedback regarding one male staff member, Xaviar (or at least we think that’s his name), who has been consistently unpleasant from the very first day he appeared in your restaurant up until tonight, and was the only male server on duty today.
Unlike all the other staff, who are friendly and professional, Xaviar’s attitude has been shockingly bad. He handles dishes roughly, remains silent, and wears a face that makes it feel as if we somehow owe him money. Honestly, it felt like he was the only “mouse in the soup,” ruining an otherwise perfect meal.
To be fair, he is consistent—just consistently unpleasant 😅. If he’s unhappy in this role, we’d suggest he either find a different job or, if he’s the boss, maybe we can cut him some slack. Otherwise, it’s hard to enjoy a meal with someone acting like we personally offended him by simply ordering food.
We hope you can address this issue, whether through training, reassignment, or other measures, so that all customers can enjoy the same great service we’ve come to expect.
Thank you for your attention. We look forward to visiting again under better...
Read moreMy family and I went to SoupZenChatswood to celebrate my niece's recent graduation from university. The night was ruined by the rude and abrupt attitude displayed by both the male and female managers. Firstly the female manager came to our table and was rude and aggressive towards my wife and her sister in relation to a question regarding taking home any food we could not finish. She left us but only after saying the words " I'll remember you !! " towards my wife and her sister. Then a short time later after we had finished the male manager then came over and ridiculously accused us of taking left over prawns! He then said he wanted to search my brother in law's bag. When he did look there was nothing for him to see. They both said that we should be charged an extra $9 per person for the comparatively small amount of left over food ( including the prawns ), but we were able to eventually dissuade him from this action. Both these managers continued to discuss matters with my sister in law as we were leaving the restaurant. Their gross overreaction and rudeness in relation to a small amount of left over food was extreme considering we paid them over $ 400 for the night. Believe me we...
