The food was decent, but I can't help but share our experience here, the service was not it. We came to celebrate a birthday, but the poor service completely ruined the night. Below are my reasons for giving a 1/5 rating, mainly due to our server (Ms. Zeng?):
She had a cold, unfriendly expression the entire time. When we asked about the complimentary sparkling juice, she 'demanded' our IDs in a tone that made it seem like she didn’t believe it was really my friend's birthday. Even after we proved that it was our birthday, we had to remind her about the sparkling juice. She then told me to post on Xiaohongshu for redemption, but when I asked for clarification on what I need to post, she was annoyed and unhelpful in explaining what I needed put. When we finally received the juice (which literally looked like champagne), I politely asked if she could open it for us. Her response? "Just open it, it's not wine," making me feel dumb for even asking. No cups were provided for the sparkling juice or the plum juice we ordered. When we asked for cups, she seemed annoyed, then stood there for several seconds, waiting for us to take them from her hand instead of simply placing them on the table or pouring the drinks for us. When my friend accidentally spilled water on the floor, her first reaction was, "Did the jug lid fall on the floor?", she didn’t check if my friend was okay or offer a tissue. Despite knowing it was a birthday celebration and that we were new members, she did not mention the $20 voucher we could use, until we asked about it ourselves. Excuse my poor Mandarin listening skills, we thought we had to pay at the counter, so we went up to do so. Instead of politely informing us, she came outside and said, "You SHOULD'VE paid at the table" making it feel like she was blaming us for a simple misunderstanding. Overall, she didn’t assist in serving or placing the food properly, leaving everything scattered on the table. She also made a loud noise when handling plates and didn’t even bother to apologise.
Just wow. Sydney Haidilao seriously lacks some basic...
Read moreAfter hearing so much about Haidilou's service in China I was very excited to see what the new Sydney store would offer.
The first thing to know is that they don't answer the phones, I tried calling two numbers that they list but both say the message bank is full.
Because of this we avoided going as thought it would be too full and we would need a booking, however this is not the case. We arrived at around 6pm on Monday night and were easily let in with no waiting.
The store has a lot of staff, there was more staff then customers however the staff didn't really give us the Chinese Haidilou experience. The staff are not bad, it just didn't feel any different from a regular restaurant.
My drink often ran out of water and when we asked for a jug we were denied. Some of the staff spoke English to me which was nice, but most preferred to speak Chinese to my girlfriend.
We did not see anyone getting their shoes shined nor was it offered to us, my girlfriend was offered nail polish which was nice, however they didn't remove the previous nail polish as it would be too hard.
The noodle dancing was a nice show to watch, however we waiting a long time for the face changing dancer, but it was not on and nobody told us it was cancelled.
There is only one toilet in the men's bathroom which was not enough but the bathroom was kept clean and fashionable.
The food was quality meat, but there was only a half dozen choices, no marinated meats and few vegetable choices.
The sides are also lacking, with a small selection of sauces, vegetables and fruits, the quality is good but the lack of variety is off-putting.
Overall the price is decent at around $50 per person, however the lack of variety means I can't recommend it over any other hot pot and it is not close to the...
Read moreMe and my wife recently had the pleasure of enjoying lunch at Haidilao Hot Pot, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome that set the tone for the entire lunch.
Our waitress, Jessica, deserves a special mention for her outstanding service. Not only did she attend to our every need with a friendly and attentive demeanor, but she went above and beyond to make our visit truly memorable.
What truly touched us was Jessica's thoughtfulness when she learned about my pregnancy. In a kind and considerate gesture, she surprised us by offering a complimentary pregnancy set meal (photo). She also provided her a pillow to support my wife’s back snd a special apron. This unexpected treat not only showcased her exceptional customer service skills but also demonstrated the restaurant's commitment to ensuring a delightful dining experience for all guests.
Our overall experience at Haidilao was remarkable. The hot pot itself was a delightful culinary adventure, with a wide range of fresh ingredients and delectable broths to choose from.
I would highly recommend Haidilao Hot Pot to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. And if you have a birthday they will sing for you and even a robot will join the celebration. The combination of excellent service, delicious food, and genuine care for their customers sets this restaurant apart. Special thanks once again to Jessica for her exceptional service and the heartwarming gesture of the complimentary pregnancy set meal. We will definitely be returning to Haidilao Hot Pot in the...
