South Dowling Sandwiches — Restaurant in Sydney

South Dowling Sandwiches on Kent Street is a fantastic little spot for a seriously satisfying lunch😋Don't let the modest size fool you; they pack some mighty flavour into their 🥪, perfect for grabbing and enjoying al fresco.

We recently tried (my first time🙂) The Hugo - (Chicken schnitzel • Lettuce • Tasty cheese • Roma tomatoes • Cucumber • SDS Caramelised Carrots • Rocket • SDS Herb Mayo) and let me tell you, it's a beast! If you've got a large appetite, this is definitely the sandwich for you. Packed with goodness, it'll keep you fueled for hours.

However, the one that truly stole my ❤️ was The Justin -( Chilli chicken • Lettuce • Rocket • SDS Caramelised Carrots • Hummus • • SDS Red Pesto). This sandwich was more to my liking – perfectly balanced and incredibly flavourful. It hit all the right notes for me. Not as heavy as Hugo.

South Darling Sandwiches is ideal for a takeaway lunch, especially with Observatory Hill Park just a short stroll away. Imagine enjoying your delicious sandwich with those stunning harbour views – perfection!

Visiting from out of town for work (brought the family too, just because).  Short walk from hotel across the road.  Stopped in for light breakfast before work, mid-week.  Brekky wrap and a coffee $12.  Wrap was great, coffee too = great value.  Wife had the quiche special, which she rated highly.  Friendly staff.  View of the harbour from (limited) seating outside (which locals may not think much about, but a nice touch for the tourists).

I was so taken with this place I stopped in for lunch as well after business taken care of.  Jimmy on brown (wife had schnitzel on brown + roasted carrots).  Generous portions (and yes, I know Sydney has plenty of big sandwiches, but this was no different!)  Bread was fresh, soft and chewy, even though lunch rush was over.  Server remembered us from breakfast, threw in the carrots on wifey’s sandwich gratis (the house specialty, I’m told).  Very tasty.  And the price?  Soo reasonable for the size and quality.  I would go so far as to say too cheap!  Lovely experience and food all around!  Will...

Pure love for this place! Like for real. Be prepared to never want to leave and prepared to dream about their chicken schnitzel sammies, especially The Daniel. This female led and dominated team can’t be nicer and more welcoming while getting it all done. There should be awards given to special folks like these who can have a line out the door and still make you feel like the only one around while still moving things along and cranking out great food at an unbelievable rate. Everything we ate here was amazing too btw, just in case you were wondering. When it came time to leave this place and leave town, we practically had to be pried away, because this place and it’s people made us feel at home, like longtime friends…and we will most definitely be back again to experience this gem, until then we will cheer from afar and support the social medias.
