Subway North Strathfield — Restaurant in Sydney

I am writing to report a significant health and safety concern I observed at the Subway takeaway located at 5 George Street North Strathfield 2137. During my visit last night on 6 December 2024 at approximately 8:45 pm, I noticed the presence of cockroaches in and around the premises, which raises serious concerns regarding hygiene and food safety standards. The specific issues I observed are as follows: Cockroaches in the food preparation areas: I observed 5 to 7 large cockroaches near the food display and counter, as well as on the floor. I informed the staff member present, but she responded that "Australia is full of cockroaches" and also commented which county do I live in which was very racist and nasty comment made by the female staff on duty. Cockroaches in public areas: While waiting for my order, I noticed a couple of additional cockroaches in the vicinity. I began to reconsider my order as I observed the staff preparing food in front of me. Evidence of infestation: Cockroach sightings were noted in multiple areas, including the standing area where customers wait for their orders. I am concerned that the presence of cockroaches in a food establishment poses a direct risk to public health and safety, as this could lead to contamination of food products and the spread of harmful diseases. This also violates hygiene regulations that all food businesses are required to adhere to. Additionally, I noted that the premises displayed a "4-star safety in hygiene" rating, which appears to be inaccurate given the unsanitary conditions I witnessed.

7/12/2024 This morning I called up to store at 11:55 am to speak to the store manager to provide the constructive feedback and the staff disconnected the line and when I tried calling back no one picked up the phone call. So now I have to leave the reviews on the google platform so other customers are aware of what is happening in this store before they order their food. My plan was to provide a constructive feedback to the owner or store manager but due to the staff's behavior I am posting this feedback. This place is consistently bad in both it's service & quality.

With this being the closest Subway to me I come here somewhat often & my experience has been negative each time.

Too many times I've bitten into the sub & found the meat has been cold on the inside.

All but 2 staff members actually know what they're doing the majority make far too many mistakes too often.

To add on to the staff excluding 2 staff of the staff (whom I don't know the names of) are rude & don't seem to know customer service or even politeness.

Today we had waited for 10 minutes as the staff proceeded to make orders for presumably an online order as we were the only ones there. The staff member never said anything or acknowledged us at all the entire as we just stood there.

We asked how long she would be, she never once made eye contact or spoke to us directly only past us stating how many sandwiches she had to make & that she was the only one (there was another person in the back that she was clearly talking to, whom was helping) she then just dropped the conversation &...

Bread stale and hard, skimps on the serving of everything. Can’t put sauce on evenly, one side full of all the sauce with tiny bit on the other 6 inch. Also told because they’re closing for a week tomorrow they can’t make any more bread today, they close in 5 hrs. Can only provide wheat and rye which are the worst types of bread they have.
